Thank you to everyone who helped make EMAC Day 2026 and our very first BBQ Cook-Off such a memorable celebration! Whether you were a sponsor, contestant, donor, judge, volunteer, attendee, or simply helped spread the word, this event was possible because of you.

From the smell of BBQ filling the air, to families and friends gathering around good food, to the music, laughter, and friendly competition, it was incredible to witness our community come together in celebration and solidarity.

A huge congratulations to Team Red (Weezy BBQ) for winning the Fan Favorite Award, and to Team Orange (Madai's Kitchen) for taking home Best BBQ Stick! Again, thank you as well to our amazing judges, Mae, Nika, and Nump for lending your time and expertise.

Because of this community, we raised $3,559 through ticket sales, food and drink purchases, and generous donations.

Every dollar supports EMAC's anti-deportation work, helping provide relief, safety, advocacy, and wraparound support for Southeast Asian immigrant and refugee families throughout the northern Central Valley. It’s still not too late to donate through the link in our bio ✨

Thank you for believing in our work and for showing what it means to build community together. We'll see you at the next one. 🌊💛

Thank you to everyone who helped to make our first ever cook-off a success! Whether you were a sponsor, contestant, donor, judge, volunteer, attendee, or someone who spread the word, we couldn’t have done this without any of you 🌊🙏🏼💛

On Saturday June 27th, our team was elated to see our venue filled with families and friends indulging in BBQ sticks, refreshments, and desserts; enjoying each other’s company; vibing to the DJ’s set; and fully participating in the process to determine Fan Favorite (congratulations to Team Red aka Weezy BBQ)! We also want to give a shoutout to our judging panel (Mae, Nika, and Nump) for their roles in deciding Best BBQ Stick (congratulations to Team Orange aka Madai’s Kitchen)!

Additionally, we are thrilled to announce that we raised $3,559 from ticket sales, food and drink sales, and donations at our event!

Earlier on, our team at EMAC made the decision to lower our entry fees to ensure the event was accessible to working families and individuals in Stockton. While we stand by that decision, we are now $1,441 away from our original goal.

Can we count on you to chip in $10 or more to help us reach $5,000?

Every dollar gifted to our organization will go towards our critical anti-deportation work that provides relief, safety, and wraparound support to Southeast Asian immigrant and refugee families in the northern Central Valley region. Please consider making a donation today: tinyurl.com/emacday26-5kgoal

Also...if you were at our cook-off, we want to hear from you! Please complete our feedback form by Friday, July 10th so we know how to improve for next year’s event: https://tinyurl.com/emacday26-feedback

Thank you again for your support, love, and solidarity.

Introducing…Mai Kaok, a team made up of an intergenerational family who has lived in Stockton for a decade, with roots in Cambodia and Philly!

“My team is called Mai Kaok, a nickname they gave my mother. My sister, my daughter and I will be making my mom’s recipe for grilled beef sticks. My passion for cooking comes from my mom and her love for cooking. I am from Philadelphia, PA. Every weekend no matter what the weather was, we would be cooking and grilling with family and friends.

My mom was a great cook but unfortunately she has dementia now. I want to share my mother’s food because it reminds me of home, it reminds me of my mom. I am excited to join this cook-off, I learned about how EMAC is helping our community through my daughter (and her teacher) because she has been a part EMAC’s community.”

We’re so glad to have Mai Kaok as one of the competing teams in our cook-off! Come and taste their family recipe this Saturday, June 27th!
