Alex Kloepping just finished up his week of National Camp School at LE Phillips Scout Reservation in Rice Lake, Wisconsin!

We’re excited to have Alex back on the 2026 Canyon Camp Staff as our Program Director this summer!

Our full camp Staff arrives to Canyon Camp this Saturday - so we are getting pumped! Only 10 days until Scouts arrive!

Today, the Novinski family returns to Fennimore, Wisconsin, to honor and remember Sybil Novinski — the matriarch of a family whose roots, service, and love have reached far beyond their forever home in southwest Wisconsin.

For those of us connected to Canyon Camp, the Novinski name is woven into the story of the camp itself. Sybil’s late husband, Lyle, was integral in helping form Canyon Camp and many of the traditions that shaped its earliest years. And Sybil was there every step of the way — steady, supportive, and deeply connected to the people and places that mattered most.

Her children and grandchildren worked at and attended Canyon Camp, carrying forward a family legacy that has touched generations of Scouts, staff, and families. Even as the Novinski family made deep roots s and created generational and lasting impact through the University of Dallas in Texas, Fennimore and the driftless will forever by home for Sybil and Lyle.

Today, we remember Sybil with gratitude — for her life, her family, her faithfulness, and the quiet but lasting ways she helped shape a legacy that continues at Canyon Camp and beyond.

Our thoughts are with the entire Novinski family as they gather to celebrate a remarkable life.

Wyatt Berry served as a Kitchen Aide in 2019 and as our Assistant Cook and Dining Hall Director in 2021.

A Harlem High School alumnus has graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.

Two of our goofy 2026 Canyon Camp Staff members have returned home safely from a week of National Camping School at Camp Manatoc in Ohio!

Valyn Bingley was trained to serve as our Nature Director this summer, and Garrett Duff will make a long-awaited return as our Scoutcraft Director!

All of the planning for a successful summer season is coming together nicely — and we’re very excited for it! Are you?

Did you know that Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) training will be available at Canyon Camp this summer?

What is IOLS you may ask? IOLS is a now-required training course for Scoutmasters and Asst. Scoutmasters in Scouts BSA troops focused on building essential hands-on Scout skills and ways to safely conduct outdoor activities for your troop.

Any adult registered for a full-week at Canyon Camp will have the opportunity to take this training with our new Camp Commissioner, Tiffany Mlsna!

We have developed the IOLS curriculum to fit well within Canyon Camp's program schedule — it will not take adult leaders away from their Scouts outside of program hours, and is designed to allow adult leaders to still attend Unit Leader Meetings, Unit Leader Socials, and beyond.

We need to admit. It's NOT a Zip Zip Bird trap.

We're excited to share the decades old refrigeration system keeping the freezer system at temperature is being updated. Long term plans will include taking the current system offline and having a refreshed kitchen.

The Dining Hall is a central piece for the Canyon Camp experience. Great food, fun songs, goofy skits, and more. Excited for this important update!

“Is that a construction project?”

Technically, yes.

After years of missing Scout socks, Canyon Camp has taken action.

What you’re seeing here may look like a construction project… but we can neither confirm nor deny that it is actually a state-of-the-art Zip Zip Bird trap.

Big things are happening at camp, and we can’t wait for Scouts, leaders, alumni, and friends to see the progress this summer. Keep your socks close. Keep your eyes on the trees. And get ready for another unforgettable season at Canyon Camp!

WISCONSIN TEACHER OF THE YEAR!

Congratulations to Devon Calvert, Canyon Camp alumnus, for this tremendous recognition!

Devon is an Eagle Scout from Troop 76 Fennimore, Wisconsin. As a youth, Devon attended Canyon Camp with an awesome group of fellow Scouts led by tremendous leaders from the far northwest portion of our local council.

Congratulations to Arlo Hooks, who had their Eagle Scout Court of Honor at Canyon Camp this Sunday!

Arlo will serve as our Canyon Ranger Director for her fourth summer on the Canyon Camp Staff. We are very proud of Arlo and all of the work she does for the little Scouts that follow us!
