What happens when students, formerly incarcerated community members, community health workers, and people who simply want to serve their communities come together for two days?

We build relationships. We listen. We learn from one another. And we practice new ways of responding to conflict and creating stronger communities.

The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) is an experiential workshop centered on community, trust, communication, conflict resolution, and nonviolence. This isn’t a lecture—you’ll participate, connect, laugh, reflect, and get to know people you might not otherwise have the opportunity to meet.

❤️ Everyone is welcome!

The Community Health Workers Program is supporting this workshop alongside Project Rebound, making this a great opportunity to meet people who care about serving their communities—including college students, formerly incarcerated individuals, future community health workers, and others committed to making a difference.

📅 September 12–13, 2026
⏰ 9:00 AM–5:00 PM both days
📍 Stanislaus State – Stockton Campus

AVP reminds us that our experiences may be different, but we all have something to teach, something to learn, and something to contribute.

Come build community with us. 💜

You spend so much time showing up for everyone else. Who’s helping you breathe?

Supporting people through crisis, trauma, loss, violence, and everyday challenges can take a toll—even when you love the work you do.

Remember to Breathe is an 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction series created for people who spend their lives supporting, serving, caring for, and responding to the needs of others.

🌿 Learn to slow down.
🌿 Recognize and manage stress.
🌿 Become more present.
🌿 Build practices that support your own well-being.

Whether you're a frontline worker, counselor, social worker, violence intervention professional, nonprofit or youth worker, community leader—or simply someone who carries a lot for others—this space is for you.

Community members are welcome!

This Natural High Retreat was definitely one for the books.

In just a few days, we moved through laughter, reflection, movement, stillness, challenge, and rest. No moment was idle. Every activity was intentional. Every conversation carried meaning. Every experience was designed to immerse our young people in connection, healing, adventure, and joy without the use of substances.

From ocean air and long walks to games, bonding, mindfulness, and moments of deep relaxation, this retreat reminded us that peace, excitement, and belonging can coexist. For many of our participants, rest is not something easily accessible. Hypervigilance has become survival. Yet here, we watched youth breathe deeper, laugh louder, sleep easier, and simply exist without pressure for a moment.

This was more than a trip.
It was community.
It was trust-building.
It was nervous systems settling in real time.
It was healing disguised as fun.

A Natural High is not just about avoiding substances. It’s about rediscovering the natural dopamine that comes from safety, movement, laughter, nature, vulnerability, and genuine human connection.

Grateful for every young person, mentor, facilitator, and memory created along the way. 🌊☀️🫶🏾
