This month, the State Center Development Association is excited to highlight Busy Bee Apiary.

What can start with simply supporting a family member’s interest turn into? For Julie and Michael Swett, it grew into Busy Bee Apiary, a thriving small, home-based business right here in State Center, Iowa.

The State Center Development Association is proud to feature Busy Bee Apiary in our latest local business spotlight.

What began when Julie and Michael started supporting their son’s interest in beekeeping has continued to grow into a side business offering raw local honey and handcrafted beeswax-based products, including lotions, lip balms, and more.

But Busy Bee Apiary’s story is about more than honey.

In this featured business video, hear Julie share the story behind Busy Bee Apiary, including how the business got started, what brought their family to State Center, what she loves about being part of this community, why supporting local businesses matters, and what she is looking forward to in State Center’s future.
