Lassen Claybreakers Lassen Claybreakers is a Lassen County based, CYSSA affiliated youth Trapshooting team. Our team consists of eligible Lassen County youth, grades 5-12.

Lassen Claybreakers is a Trapshooting team established as a Gun Club in February, 2023. From 2016-early 2023 we were a high school affiliated team, named the Lassen Grizzly Claybreakers. We operate under the Lassen Grizzly Claybreakers, a 501(c)(3) organization. Under the direction of Head Coach Phil Giusti and his NRA certified coaches, our mission is to teach youth the value & love of a firearm

sport, how to be a valuable teammate & show what hard work and dedication can accomplish. Good sportsmanship, individual and team responsibility, respect, self-discipline, positive academic progress and personal commitment are emphasized in the CYSSA program, of which we are a part.

To say the Claybreakers had a good trip to Vegas would be an understatement! To start off, the Juniors took a 1st Place squad award with a two-day score of 909 targets out of 1000.🎉Then, the Juniors won a 2nd Place Team Award with our little 6 man team. The one team that bested us had 31 members there. As individuals, our own Tabitha Root won 1st Place on the podium for the Intermediate Advance category with a score of 194/200! This included a 100 straight score on Saturday!🔥 Team Captain Caden Martin finished with a 3rd place on the IA podium with a 184 score.🎉 Not to be outdone, our Intermediate Entry level member Robert Muller took 1st Place on the podium with a score of 194! 🔥
For the Varsity, Senior Seth Matchniff won 3rd Place on the podium with a score of 195, after a tie-breaker shootoff with a 24 score.🎉Then, our great team won 1st Place in the Open Gun Club Division where they combine the top 5 scores from the Juniors and Senior/Varsity, and we had a combined score of a whopping 966/1000!🎉
Not to be left out, our Coach Phil Giusti won 1st Place in the Coach's Shoot, beating out 28 other coaches from around the country. 🎉
The 4 members that we put on the podium is a record for the Claybreakers at Las Vegas and Tabitha is our very first Lady Claybreaker to shoot a 100 score!🔥 All of our Claybreakers did extremely well, we are very proud of each team member for making the trip and bringing their own heat to Las Vegas! Until next year!👏

LAS VEGAS!! We loved to visit but we are not sad to leave the heat! 🥵 Luckily, we were able to shoot in the early morning and got done rather quickly and dodged a big portion of the heat during the day. These kids did awesome! So proud of them! We shot great scores and some of our kids brought back some extra baggage.🏆🏅🥇🥉 🙌👏 Here is a photo dump of our time in Vegas. Throwback Thursday! As our families head to Las Vegas for the US Open, here is our first squad we sent to Vegas 11 years ago, aptly dubbed "The Dream Team". A JV squad with two seniors on the team, they only had one year of competing together. What a year! ❤️🔥

Varsity State Championship last weekend might not have ended quite the way we wanted but the kids did great. We placed 1st in the 6 Series Shoot for the year and then at State we took 3rd place overall. Great job shooters, we are proud of you!! 🙌👏
