Darlene moved from Georgia to Maryland and found herself covering moving costs, everyday bills, and help for her family the way a lot of people do when things get tight: one credit card charge at a time, always planning to catch up later. She ended up carrying more than $33,000 in debt before she reached out to MMI. Her counselor helped bring her interest rates down, some to zero percent, and within five years she was debt free.
Darlene's story reflects what we're seeing across the "sandwich generation," Gen Xers supporting kids, aging parents, and themselves all at once, who now carry the highest average unsecured debt of any generation we serve.
