Illinois has Lodges in more towns than most people realize.

If you've been curious about Freemasonry, the locator lists the address, meeting times, and what's coming up on the calendar. If you're a traveling Brother, it's the fastest way to find a Lodge to visit.

Playwright. Poet. Freemason.

Happy birthday to Oscar Wilde, born October 16, 1854, in Dublin. He was initiated at Apollo University Lodge No. 357 at Oxford in 1875, and later joined Churchill Lodge No. 478.

More than a century after his death, his plays are still staged, and his legacy still felt.

It's been one year since Grand Master Joseph B. Ferrell started his tenure.

Twelve months in, we've seen him lead the Grand Lodge of Illinois A.F. & A.M. at the Conference of Grand Masters, travel all over the state to meet Illnois Brothers, and carry his theme of Legacy and Fellowship into every stop.

Thank you, Most Worshipful Grand Master, for your dedicated leadership.

Through Illinois Masonic Children's Assistance Program's (IMCAP) Bikes for Books program, every book a student reads earns him or her a drawing, and one lucky reader walks away with a brand-new bike from your Lodge.

Your Lodge can partner with a local school to serve Pre-K through 5th grade students. IMCAP reimburses your Lodge up to $1,100 per fiscal year for the bike, and Brothers from the Lodge present the award directly at the school.

It's one of the most rewarding partnerships you can bring to your Lodge this year. Link to apply in the comments.

Brothers, what's been your favorite community or charity event thrown by your Lodge?

The one that drew a crowd. The one that was fun to participate in. The one that made an impact.

Tell us in the comments. We want to see the range of service across Illinois.

The best ritual work you've ever seen wasn't an accident. Every word, every step, delivered by a Brother who put in the effort.

Every one of them had a teacher. Our Ritual Instructors are the Brothers who fill that role. Grand Lecturers, Certified Lecturers, and Certified Lodge Instructors are Master Masons who devote themselves to knowing the ceremonies inside and out, and to teaching them to Brothers coming up behind them.

If you've ever thought about becoming an instructor, this is the time to explore it. Learn more at the link in the comments.

Brothers, Annual Communication begins today!

For more than 180 years, Illinois Freemasonry has come together each October to conduct the business of our grand jurisdiction, celebrate the year behind us, and set the course for the year ahead.

Whether you're joining us in Springfield or following along from home, we're grateful for every Brother who makes this fraternity what it is. Here's to a great weekend.

Tomorrow, while Masons from across Illinois gather in Springfield for our Annual Communication, we’re also gathering to give something simple and life-saving: blood.

The Grand Lodge of Illinois Blood Drive runs Friday, October 9th from 12-5pm, aboard the donor bus at the Crowne Plaza Springfield. Walk-ins are welcome, or schedule a time in advance at the link in the comments.

Less than 10% of people donate blood regularly, yet someone needs it every single day. If you’re in Springfield this week, an hour of your time could be exactly what someone needs.

He joined Freemasonry in 2007. Years later, RWB Reuben Owens now chairs the Grand Lodge of Illinois A.F. & A.M.'s Board of Grand Examiners, the committee responsible for keeping Masonic ritual instruction across the state true to form.

We sat down with him to talk about the moment ritual became his calling, what separates memorizing from learning, and the mentor who shaped him into the instructor he is today.
