A new month means another opportunity to grow, learn, and BLOOM. 💗

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and at Bloom Upstate, we’re using this month to remind our girls that taking care of your mental health matters. It’s okay to have hard days, ask for help, set boundaries, and protect your peace.

Throughout September, we’ll be creating spaces for our girls to connect, have fun, learn healthy ways to manage stress, and understand the importance of speaking up when they need support.

This month’s reminder: You matter. Your voice matters. Your story matters. 🌸

Here’s to a September filled with growth, support, and sisterhood. ✨

A special thank you to Pontheolla Mack Abernathy for nominating Andrea for this recognition and for recognizing the impact of her work. We are also deeply grateful to Pontheolla for graciously allowing Bloom Upstate to call In Our Mother’s Garden home for the past five years. Having a space where our organization can gather, grow, and continue its mission has meant so much to us.

✨ Throwback to I’m Possible!✨

Some moments are worth revisiting. 💐 We’re throwing it back to our “I’m Possible” event, where Bloom girls had the opportunity to experience the United Crowns Mobile Black History Museum, curated by Dr. Tracy P. Washington.

This special experience featured our very own Lotus Society Member, Ms. Kitty Black Perkins, and gave our girls the opportunity to connect with Black history, culture, excellence, and the stories that continue to inspire generations. 🖤

At Bloom Upstate, we believe in creating experiences that remind our girls of where we’ve been, celebrate who we are, and show them what’s possible for their future. 🌸

Where ambition meets opportunity. ✨

Designed exclusively for high school scholars in grades 9–12, the Academy of Learners is an opportunity to grow beyond the classroom and begin preparing for what comes next.

📅 September 2026 – April 2027
📍 Meets twice a month

Throughout the program, scholars will have opportunities to earn certificates, shadow professionals, explore career pathways, strengthen leadership skills, and gain real-world exposure that prepares them for college, careers, and beyond.

This is more than a program—it’s a space for young women to build confidence, connections, and a vision for their future.

🌸 Bloom & Beyond: Pathway to Career & College Success Recap! 🎓✨

Last weekend, our high school scholars had the opportunity to explore pathways beyond graduation, connect with professionals and community leaders, and gain valuable insight into college, careers, and their future goals.

From meaningful conversations to new connections, the day was all about helping our scholars see the possibilities ahead and giving them the tools to confidently take their next steps.
