🏐 Today we are featuring another grant project from the 2025-26 school year–Voices for Volleyball at West Broad Elementary

☀️The students at West Broad loved playing volleyball at recess, but there was one problem. They didn’t have a volleyball net. They were using the metal baseball fence as a makeshift net when their teacher decided to write a grant for IVEF funding. The goal of the grant was to purchase a real volleyball net and new balls so that all students could safely play games together at recess.

💜 IVEF received this grant and decided that all SIX elementary schools would benefit from grant funding to purchase new playground supplies. Volleyball nets, basketballs, storage containers and other items were ordered for all of the elementary schools. IVEF knows that all of our elementary students need fun, exercise and camaraderie outside on the playground each day and we were happy to provide funding to help make that possible. Thank you to the teacher, Amy Felciani, for writing a grant that supported hundreds of students across the district.

⭐️ IVEF funded over $35,000 in grants during the 2025-26 school year. We do this by working with community and business partners to enhance the funding in Souderton’s public schools.

💜 Thank you to everyone who came out to our 3rd Annual Mix and Mingle at Branch Creek Taphouse on Friday.

❤️ Our IVEF board members and Souderton staff members enjoyed meeting members of the community and sharing the work that IVEF does to support the students of Souderton Area School District. We appreciate everyone who bought raffle tickets and made donations to the foundation while you were at the event!

💚 We hope you enjoyed the fun atmosphere at Branch Creek Taphouse and will continue to support this local business that supports many local non-profits by allowing us to host exciting events in their space.

For the next installment of the IVEF spotlight series: “Why IVEF?” we are featuring another project that was completed at Oak Ridge Elementary school using funds from an Indian Valley Education Foundation grant. 💜💫

✨ In the video, Principal Tom Ferlick shares information about “The Enchanted Forest” Library created by retired librarian, Mrs. Colleen Buck. In this space, students are immersed in forest decor while they peruse the bookshelves looking for their next great book. There are tables where students can sit to do STEM projects which allows for building and creativity as well as places to read. Thank you to Mrs. Buck for your creativity and innovation in making the library at Oak Ridge such a magical place.

Today we are featuring a classroom grant from the 2025-26 school year–Zentangled at Indian Crest Middle School ✍️

Zentangle is a method of creating small art through repetitive patterns and deliberate strokes. This is a focused and intentional practice that promotes gratitude, relaxation, mindfulness and self expression. This method was created by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas in 2004. This grant was brought to IVEF by ICMS teacher, Jennifer Odenwald, She said, “Middle school can be a tough and confusing time for many. This will help ease this transitional time and give kids a tool they can use on their own to foster growth and capability.” Thank you to Ms. Odenwald for bringing this creative endeavor to all of your students.

The Indian Valley Education Foundation (IVEF) is seeking a creative, organized, and driven professional to join our team as a Fundraising and Events Coordinator.

About the Role: The IVEF is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to funding educational opportunities for students in the Souderton Area School District. We are looking for someone to help us take our fundraising and community engagement to the next level. This is a part-time, remote-friendly position that reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with our volunteer Board of Directors.

What You Will Do: As our coordinator, you will lead the ex*****on of our signature fundraising events and campaigns. Your key responsibilities will include:

✨Event Leadership: Managing all aspects of planning, logistics, timelines, budgets, and vendor contracts for our signature events.
Fundraising Support: Partnering with the Executive Director to execute the Annual Giving Campaign and other supplemental initiatives.

✨Sponsorship & Donor Relations: Recruit and steward event sponsors, manage benefits, and maintain accurate records in our donor database.

✨Marketing & Outreach: Coordinating event promotions via social media, email, and community outreach.

✨Day-of Logistics: Managing registration, ticketing, and on-site ex*****on.

Why Join IVEF? We offer a flexible, part-time, remote-friendly role. Compensation is hourly and commensurate with skills and experience. This position is also eligible for a performance-based bonus when we exceed our annual fundraising goals.

For the next installment of the IVEF spotlight series: “Why IVEF?” we are featuring another community member who has chosen to share their time and talents as a member of the IVEF Board of Directors. 💫💜

Missy Boyd is an attorney, SAHS parent, donor, and Board Member. When we asked Missy about her “Why IVEF?” she shared the following:

✨ What does giving back to education mean to you?

Giving back to education feels deeply personal to me. I am a first generation college graduate, and my parents believed that education could open doors for me that might not otherwise have been open. They wanted more opportunities for me, and I carry that with me. To me, giving back to education is about paying forward something my parents gave me. It is believing that when kids thrive, communities thrive, and when communities thrive, society thrives. It is one of the best investments we can make, because there is no telling how far that investment will travel.

✨ What inspired you to get involved with the Indian Valley Education Foundation?
Honestly, I love being part of this organization. Two of my children have graduated from Souderton Area School District, and I have one more who is only two years away. Watching each of my kids take a different path has given me an even greater appreciation for how many opportunities a school district can provide and how important it is to have an organization like IVEF helping to enrich and supplement that experience.

IVEF was proud to award a building grant to create this outdoor library space where children can select a book from the Little Free Library during recess and read on the bench under the tree. IVEF loves to help create spaces that foster literacy! Thank you to retired teacher, Colleen Buck for bringing this idea to IVEF. 📚
