Rotarians Andy Helton and Ginny Williams volunteered to help last Saturday at the 18th Annual Boat Day, sponsored by the Town of Smyrna, TN - Local Government at the Jefferson Springs Recreation Area. The free family event featured free kayaking and canoeing and hands-on activities for the children. Smyrna Outdoor Adventure Center staff were on hand to give instructions.

Several hands went up when Thursday’s speaker Matt Greci from the Nashville Superspeedway asked how many attended last weekend’s NASCAR triple-header. They weren’t alone. People from all 50 states and 25 countries were at the speedway. You can see videos on their page.

At Thursday’s meeting, Rotarians learned about the Rutherford County Virtual School, a public school that tailors education to the unique learning and lifestyles of students in grades 3-12. In addition to a well-rounded curriculum, they offer dual enrollment, AP classes, extra tutoring, and “Connection Fridays,” providing students with both education and social connections. Smyrna Rotarians were on hand on Thursday to take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and room dedication at the Ronald McDonald House in Nashville. In December of 2025, our club made a $5,000.00 donation to the Ronald McDonald House in honor of Neil Orne, who has supported the Ronald McDonald House for 30 years.

Thanks to Robin Housch for informing us of the hope that The Sweet Addiction (facebook.com/TheSweetAddiction3) provides to women survivors. This non-profit organization empowers women survivors of human trafficking, addiction, domestic violence, and incarceration by offering skills training, mentorship, and employment opportunities through the Sweet Addiction bakery and catering service.
