Christmas is a little brighter when a community comes together for children and families!

Each year, A Home For Me partners with Greenville County DSS to help make Christmas special for approximately 250 children living in kinship care. These children are being raised by grandparents, relatives, and other family members who have stepped in to provide safe, loving homes, often while navigating unexpected financial challenges.

And we need your help!

Through our annual Kinship Christmas program, you can sponsor a child and help make their Christmas morning special.

When you sign up, you’ll receive a personalized wish list with clothing sizes, shoe sizes, and a few special Christmas wishes.

Here’s what you need to know:

* Suggested spending is approximately $200 per child.
* Clothing and shoes are a priority, but we encourage including one or two special gifts from their wish list.
* Gift bags will be provided, so please do not wrap gifts.
* All gifts are due December 1, 2026.

A little paint, a few rocks, and a whole lot of creativity!

We had so much fun spending time with some of our favorite friends at the annual DSS Trunk or Treat event! We loved getting to paint rocks, share some laughs, and enjoy an afternoon of fun with the kids and families we serve.

Events like these are such a great reminder that sometimes the simplest activities create the sweetest memories.

We’re heading into one of our favorite seasons of the year at A Home For Me, and we can’t wait for more opportunities to connect, celebrate, and make memories with so many of our friends!

A family is getting ready to be reunited. Now, they need our help making their house a home.

After months of hard work, one South Carolina mom has successfully completed her treatment plan and is preparing to welcome her children back home!

What an incredible milestone for this family. But before those children return, there are some practical needs that must be met.

Their social worker has reached out through Connecting SC with a request for furniture to help prepare their home:

• 1 sofa
• 2 end tables
• 2 dressers
• 1 queen bed
• 2 twin beds

This is what Connecting SC is all about.

Every day, social workers across South Carolina encounter families who are working hard to overcome difficult circumstances. Sometimes the difference between where a family is and where they want to be comes down to something as simple as a bed, a dresser, or a helping hand.

Through Connecting SC, we get to bring those needs to YOU, our community, and invite you to be part of the solution.

And this is just one of the many opportunities to make a difference!

Happy Sunday from A Home For Me!

One of our favorite traditions each year at CAFO Summit is something we call the CAFO Help Tree.

Each year, we choose a local family social services office near the Summit and invite attendees to stop by and write handwritten thank-you notes to the people doing the hard, often unseen work of serving children and families every day.

This year, through the generosity of A Home For Me donors and the intentionality of the CAFO community, we were able to deliver 200 handwritten thank-you notes and Chick-fil-A gift cards to the team at the DeKalb County DFCS office.

Social workers carry a lot. The CAFO Help Tree is one small way we can remind them that their work matters, their presence matters, and the people they serve aren’t the only ones who are seen. They are seen, too.

We’re grateful for every donor who made this possible and every person at CAFO who took a few minutes to put encouragement on paper.

Happy Sunday. Here’s to looking for simple ways to remind the people serving others that they are valued, too.

We’re home from CAFO Summit with full hearts, full notebooks, and a lot to think about.

One of the things we appreciate about CAFO is that they don’t encourage us to leave trying to do everything. Instead, they challenge us to identify one thought to take home. One next step.

Because meaningful change rarely happens all at once. It happens when we listen, learn, and then faithfully take the next step in front of us.

So as we reflect on everything we heard, the relationships we strengthened, and the ideas we’re bringing back to A Home For Me, we’re asking ourselves the same question CAFO asked us:

What’s one step God is asking you to take now?

Maybe it’s learning more about foster care. Supporting a kinship family. Meeting a need. Volunteering. Giving. Praying. Or simply starting a conversation you’ve been putting off.

You don’t have to do everything.

ONE MORE DAY!

Tomorrow, our A Home For Me team will join more than 2,000 Christian leaders, foster and adoptive parents, child welfare professionals, pastors, advocates, and nonprofit leaders from around the world for the CAFO Summit in Atlanta.

CAFO stands for the Christian Alliance for Orphans, and for more than two decades, their Summit has created a space for people who care about vulnerable children and families to learn from one another, worship together, share resources, and build relationships. This year alone, there are more than 200 breakout sessions covering everything from foster care and adoption to organizational health, church engagement, technology, fundraising, and caring well for the people doing this work.

For our team, being there matters. It gives us a chance to step away from the day-to-day work, learn from people doing this work across the country and around the world, and come home better equipped to serve children and families right here in South Carolina.

We believe kids from hard places deserve our very best. That means we never want to stop learning, growing, asking better questions, or building relationships with others who share this calling.

One more day, Atlanta. We can’t wait!

A few years ago, our team gathered in Nashville for the CAFO Summit, and this week we’re heading back, this time to Atlanta.

We’re grateful for the chance to learn from others who care deeply about vulnerable children and families, connect with leaders doing meaningful work across the country, and bring fresh ideas back home to South Carolina.

Some of the best growth happens when we step outside of our normal routines, listen well, and remember that we’re part of something much bigger than ourselves.

Atlanta, we’re ready. We can’t wait to see what God uses this week to teach, challenge, and encourage our team.

Sometimes the best way to work through a BIG feeling is to get the whole body moving.

One of the things we practice at Journey Camp is helping kids learn how to recognize what their bodies need and find healthy ways to regulate. And that doesn’t have to stop when camp ends!

TBRI® reminds us that physical activity and sensory-rich experiences can be valuable tools for regulation and connection. The good news? Families don’t need special equipment or a complicated plan to put that into practice.

Try going for a walk together. Race to the mailbox. Have a dance party in the kitchen. Jump on a trampoline. Play catch. Carry something heavy across the yard. Create an obstacle course. Even a few minutes of purposeful movement can give a child an opportunity to reset before tackling what comes next.

And whenever possible, do it together. Movement can become more than a regulation tool. It can become an opportunity for laughter, connection, and trust.

Sometimes loving kids from hard places looks like sitting down and talking.

And sometimes it looks like getting up and moving. 💛
