If you’re thinking about burning today please don’t, with the winds and conditions a fire will easily get out of control. Our department along with neighboring departments haven’t long been off a fire that could have been way worse than it was.

Do not only do us a favor but your neighbors as well and do not burn!

A little Fire knowledge for those that don't know, the ABSOLUTE worst time to burn is the few days after a storm blows through. It is not because of the water, it is actually due to the lack of water.

Humidity is the measure of water v***r in the air. When a storm goes through, it drops the humidity, all the water is in or on the ground instead of in the air.

Higher than normal winds also tend to follow after stroms, it has to do with the pressure from the storm.

Remember, getting rid of that pile of branches really isnt worth the cost of liability from burning your neighborhood down.

Burning just 1 acre of timber could cost you thousands in liability, burning someones house could cost you hundreds of thousands in liability.

Calling the local fire department (337-383-7226) and asking about the weather is never a bad Idea. we wont tell you not to burn unless it is a burn ban, but we are here to help out.
