As a liaison between the African community and Montgomery County government, the African Affairs Advisory Group (AAAG) aims to ensure that the county executive is well informed of and able to act effectively on the needs and concerns of African immigrants living or working in the county. AAAG conducts outreach to understand community needs and concerns; and informs African immigrants about county
programs, resources, and proposed initiatives. AAAG advises county leaders and representatives on community needs and concerns; identifies opportunities for increasing the county workforce’s cultural competence; and helps the county reach the community. AAAG identifies opportunities to expand nonprofit and faith-based groups’ capacity to serve county community members; and prospects for community, public, and private-sector collaboration to best serve African immigrants in the county. Join us each 2nd Thursday of the month at the Silver Spring Civic Building.
