Capitol View Park Citizens' Association (CVPCA)

Capitol View Park Citizens' Association (CVPCA) Capitol View Park is a unique, eclectic neighborhood nestled between Kensington and Forest Glen. See www.cvpcacommunity.com

The Capitol View Park (CVP) is located in Silver Spring Maryland between Kensington and Forest Glen. CVP contains about 350 homes and is nestled between the B&O railroad tracks to the west and a stream to the east which forms our natural boundaries. CVP was the first historic district in Montgomery County and we have an extremely interesting history. Metropolitan Avenue turns into Capitol View Ave

nue and meanders south through the neighborhood until it meets Seminary Road. We welcome all residents to become members of the CVPCA.

‼️ Have you seen these little yellow flowers now blooming throughout CVP? They’re Lesser Celandine, an invasive species that poses an ecological threat.

Lesser Celandine spreads aggressively, forming a dense mat that blocks the native spring wildflowers that birds & pollinators need to survive. Left alone, it can take over your yard. Sadly it’s overtaking the wildflowers in Capitol View/Homewood Park. (See 📷.)

For small infestations at home, act now:

🪏Dig up the plant & surrounding soil to remove the little bulbs & stems.
🗑️ Put the plant in a trash bag, not a lawn & leaf bag. Do not compost.
🧽Clean your tools & shoes.
⭐️ Bonus move: Plant a vigorous evergreen native, such as Golden Ragwort, in the spot to help prevent LC from returning.

The Council will hold a public briefing on Tuesday to discuss the County’s response to this week's snowstorm.

I know many residents experienced delays, uneven plowing and unclear communication across neighborhoods.

This public discussion is about accountability — and making sure county government does better next time.

My thanks to Council President Natali Fani-Gonzalez for scheduling this important conversation.

Now I want to hear from you. What questions should be asked? Share your experience and your questions.
