After 22 years we still get items to post about auditions and performances and such, so I guess we're still in business. theatrepages.org or srbnet.com - either will get you there.

If you want something posted, just send it to me. I don't parse press releases. Just the basic newspaper standards. Who, what, where, and when are the most important, but ticket info, cast lists and all that will also be posted. Whatever is important for people to know. Don't forget the contact info, and a link back to your site if you have one.

Of course I still offer help and advise on a variety of technical subjects - just ask and I'll do what I can.

Oh, and if you're representing a group, or just yourself, and you love theatre, you really need to belong to AACT. Facebook keeps telling me I have new "likes" and "views" but that I haven't posted anything in a while. That's true, I've been very bad at keeping the site up and even worse at keeping this page up. The site really needs an overhaul with a good CMS system that will automatically update FB, but I haven't, (until recently,) had time to pursue it. I know there are people out there that still glance at it once in a while, but is it worth my time to revamp the site, make it easier to post information, and make it more interactive with FB? The Theatre Pages at SRBNET is the oldest continually running theatre website in the area. I've had a site online since 1996. I'd just like to hear some opinions. Should I bother to keep it going? More importantly, would someone like to help by contributing articles, editing a section, helping moderate the notices, etc? How about helping with the redesign? Let me know. Thank you all.

It's been a while since I posted anything on here, (something Facebook reminds me once in a while,) and I've been thinking that I should get in the habit of keeping information more up to date here as well as on the website.

The thing is that the site has been going through some drastic changes the past couple of years. A lot of the hosting service has dropped off and become unnecessary because groups are finding they can get better service for very little with their domain name registration. I've been encouraging people to take advantage of deals like that - it makes a lot of sense to not rely on a single person to maintain something as important as their web site - and I'm glad to help in any way I can.

But I would like to continue to maintain the basics of what is under my own domain name and provide the resources and the news and notices portion of the site. In order to make that portion much more efficient and allow people the freedom to post notices on their own, as well as to provide automatic sync between the website and social media like this page, I've been trying to find the best possible content management system, CMS/Bulletin Board/Classified Board - whatever - to be the background engine.

That search and development process has not been easy. It's important that it be very secure. Anytime there's a signup process involved, something necessary to allow people to post information without much intervention on my part, their personal information, no matter how minimal that may be, must be held securely. It should also help me filter out anything malicious, or improper, without erroneously censoring what gets posted. And it should allow me to guide people to help post the right information to make their notice readable and include all the information people will want from it: who, what, where, and when. You'd be surprised how often in the past I've had to email the sender to ask for some important details.

It turns out that what I'm searching for doesn't really exist in the form I want to use without a lot of customization and re-coding. This is something I'm not very proficient trying to do. I'm not a coder. When it comes to software and scripting I'm much closer to a troubleshooter - I can with some effort modify a script to make it do what I want, but rewriting it would be out of my league, so to speak.

So I've started asking around for some assistance. If any of our friends out there are familiar with CMS systems, Bulletin Boards, and all that sort of thing, and are much better at re-coding templates and scripts than I am, and would like to help make The Theatre Pages at SRBNET into a relevant and useful site once again, please drop me a line: [email protected]

Thanks for sticking with us for all these years. We've been in existence, astonishingly, since 1995, and are the oldest of any such internet resource for the arts!

Hey, hey, hey! Thanks all, for liking us and/or what we do. The nice things people have to say make it all worthwhile. (Well, maybe not financially, but spiritually I'm very pleased.)

Say, if anyone out there regularly gets notices that I haven't posted, would you like to post them here?

Still Alive and Well

SRBNET.com was established in 1996, and was always dedicated to helping theatre groups and artists maintain a presence on the Internet. Many changes and reactions to the growth of the Internet have occurred since then, and we went from hosting websites to assisting and hosting full domains, to helping people and groups transition to running their own websites. A few years back we gave up our own server infrastructure, and today we are run on a hosted service. We still maintain a few websites, but are no longer the host, just the conduit. We still post audition, show, and help wanted information, but our primary concern is helping wherever we can, maintaining lists of resources, and being an advocate for the arts in our communities.

We established the non-profit 501 3(c) corporation The Theatre Pages in 2004 so that all donations would be fully tax exempt.

22 years and counting. We are the oldest continuously running Arts resources website on the Internet.
