š¤š¾ Collective Growth š¤š¾
Since its creation in 2005, by FoundingĀ Executive Director- Junious Brickhouse,Ā has been honored toĀ preserveĀ the legacies of Urban Art forms through a multidisciplinary pedagogy.Ā We believeĀ that through fortitude, community support, self- actualization, and movement, people find freedom. This freedom allows communities to move deeper into exploring their truths against the only constant in life: change. We believe thatĀ theĀ sustainability of Black Cultural Arts forms, is a collectiveĀ project that requires responsibility, accountability,Ā and growth, and thatĀ the stronghold for change comes from knowing our power as individualsĀ withinĀ communities of practice.
The 2024 Theme of Black History Month is "African Americans andĀ theĀ Arts." Urban Artistry will continue, in February, and beyond, toĀ paint a picture of the hopeful power of music and dance to help establish the connections and closeness needed in times of loss and disruption. We are sharing stories of healing and redefining a better version of our shared communal identity, one honest and meaningful step at a time.. and then another... and then another. This journey doesn'tĀ end, especiallyĀ when we makeĀ the commitment toĀ keep going and growing!
