When Together We Bloom first launched its menâs mental health program, FORGE, the goal was simple: create a space where men in our community could step away from the pressures of everyday life, connect with others, and have honest conversations about mental health in a supportive environment. Thanks to funding from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation (NCCF), we were able to expand that vision and increase access to programming that many men in our rural community may not have otherwise sought out.
What we quickly realized, though, was that the impact extended far beyond one program.
Because NCCF helped strengthen FORGE, it also allowed Together We Bloom to distribute additional organizational funds into other mission-centered initiatives focused on prevention, connection, and wellness across the lifespan. One of those programs was our childrenâs yoga series, âLittle Yogis Around the World,â which introduced children to movement, mindfulness, emotional regulation, and positive coping skills in a fun and engaging way. Parents consistently shared how much their children loved the program and expressed hope that it would continue in the future.
This ripple effect is exactly what community investment can do. NCCFâs support helped us continue building programs that align with the protective factors known to support positive mental health outcomesâcreating community connections, strengthening parent-child relationships, decreasing stigma surrounding mental health, and increasing mental health literacy in approachable and accessible ways.
In a small community, impact is often felt through relationships and shared experiences. Whether it is a father finding connection through FORGE or a child learning calming strategies through yoga, these moments matter. NCCFâs investment has helped Together We Bloom continue creating spaces where people feel supported, connected, and empowered to care for their mental health and one another.
