Welcome Boston!
Boston is loved very deeply by his family who could not afford his urgent and long-term medical care. He made the approx 6 hour trip to Puffball Paradise and was seen the following day Avian & Exotic Philly Vet Susan J Tyson, VMD, MS as a day case.
They discovered he had a severe spur on his tooth which ulcerated his cheek and caused an abscess. This caused the severe swelling of his right cheek. Under light sedation, they clipped the spur to give him some relief. He is also on pain meds and antibiotics.
Next week, he returns for a sedated dental eval, molar trim, skull rads, and possibly cultures. For now, he is eating and feeling less discomfort. Long-term, he will need regular dental procedures.
This is a difficult case because his family loved him very much and did not want to surrender him. However, he will require ongoing dental care for the duration of his life. This is expensive but necessary for him to live. Therefore, his family made the very difficult decision to surrender him. We recognize how heart-wrenching this decision is and are honored that we were entrusted with his care. We will do all we can for him. This is our promise to both him and his family.
Please send some positive healing energy his way. Everyone agrees that Boston is the sweetest bunny imaginable! ❤️❤️
