Olde Ripton Garden Club

We encourage interest in gardening, beautification of the community, protection of natural resources, and promotion of better horticultural practices.

Founded in 1976, the Olde Ripton Garden Club (ORGC) of Shelton, Connecticut is a community of garden enthusiasts committed to sharing the love of gardening and conservation. We provide education in horticulture and assist in beautifying streets, highways, and grounds around public buildings.

The next meeting of the Olde Ripton Garden Club will take place Monday, August 3rd at the Shelton Community Center, Suite 2 (lower level) at 10am promptly. Our speaker will be Donna Katsuranis and her topic will be Garden Design for Four Season Interest. The horticulture table should feature the summer blooms from your garden. Remember to bring items for our Swap and Share table. Guests are welcome for $5.

The next meeting of the Olde Ripton Garden Club will take place Monday, July 6 at the Shelton Community Center, Suite 2 (lower level) at 10am promptly. Our speaker will be George Trecina who has degrees in Landscape Design and Architecture. His presentation will be Unraveling the Mysteries of Pruning. The horticulture table should feature red, white and blue to celebrate our country’s 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Remember to bring items for our Swap and Share table. Guests are welcome for a $5.00 Have a happy and safe July 4th

With the arrival of summer, several ORGC civic gardens are now in bloom. Thanks to Joan Mauri, Joy Reho and Kay Pensiero for planting at the Police Department also Joanne Brunelle and Cheryl Dziubina for their efforts at the Plumb Library.

The Olde Ripton Garden Club marked its 50th Anniversary with a June luncheon, generously provided by Ritrovo Restaurant, following the huge success of its May Plant and Bake Sale. A newly compiled cookbook, featuring member-submitted recipes, was also distributed, the result of months of effort.

The Olde Ripton Garden Club’s annual Plant and Bake sale May 16, 2026 was a huge success, thanks to the beautiful weather and a wonderful turnout. The Shelton garden club is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, marking a significant achievement in its continued growth. Club members played a crucial role in the event’s success, donating homegrown perennials and baked goods. The garden club would like to express its sincere appreciation to the local businesses that donated gift certificates, further contributing to the sale’s success.

At our May meeting, members were busy creating floral arrangements with a multitude of spring tulips 🌷Our lovely member, Loreta graciously guided us and provided all the beautiful blooms.

The next meeting of the Olde Ripton Garden Club will take place Monday, May 4 at the Shelton Community Center, Suite 2 (lower level) at 10am promptly. We will be making a Spring arrangement chaired by our lovely member, Loreta Daka Carrero. Our horticulture table presented by Michelle will feature May flowers. Remember to bring items for our Swap and Share table. Guests are welcome for a $5.00 fee. A light luncheon will be served.
