Welcome to Camp Y-Koda, Karen! 🎉🏕️
We are excited to announce that Karen Kasprzak will be joining our camp family in July as our new Executive Director.
Karen's love for camp and the great outdoors began in childhood. As the daughter of a Wisconsin farmer, she spent many long days outside helping with chores and playing in nearby streams, rivers, and forests. In seventh grade, Karen attended camp for the first time, and camp showed her that nature could be more than a place to explore and discover; it could also be a place for friendship, confidence, growth, and belonging. That experience sparked a lifelong passion for helping young people discover themselves through camp and outdoor experiences.
Karen has spent over two decades serving youth and families through YMCA camping and youth development programs across several states. She began her YMCA career in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula as a youth development staff member. Through a strong work ethic and passion for the mission, Karen advanced to her most recent role as Executive Director at a YMCA camp in Indiana. She has also served in leadership roles at YMCA camps in Alabama and New York. Throughout her career, Karen has remained deeply committed to creating camp communities where kids feel known, valued, and encouraged to grow.
Karen is excited to join the YMCA of Sheboygan as Executive Director of YMCA Camp Y-Koda. She is especially passionate about supporting the camp team so they can help children unplug, step outside, and connect with the outdoors in ways that build confidence and character. She is thrilled to be returning home to Wisconsin and joining a camp community that believes in the lasting impact of positive childhood experiences.
Please give her a warm Y-Koda welcome! ☀
