The St. Gregory's College Class of 1987 is excited to be planning a reunion weekend for June 11-13, 2027 at St. Gregory's Abbey in Shawnee, Oklahoma for what promises to be a memorable celebration! We are looking forward to welcoming alumni from the Classes of 1986, 1987, and 1988 to celebrate early friendships, relive old memories, and create new ones. Whether it has been a few years or a few decades since you've connected with classmates, we hope this reunion will be an opportunity to rekindle friendships and remember what made St. Gregory's such a remarkable place.

The monks of St. Gregory’s concluded today their annual week-long community retreat. Leading them in their retreat was Fr. Harry Hagan, OSB, monk of St. Meinrad Archabbey in southern Indiana. The theme of the retreat focused on the joy and blessing of monastic practices.

Abbot Lawrence clothed Postulant Chien Ngo as a novice today, Friday, June 12, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart. The clothing ceremony took place in the presence of the monastic community in the monastery Chapter Room. In keeping with ancient tradition, Abbot Lawrence conferred a new name as sign of the new way of life one assumes in the novitiate. Postulant Chien now is known as Brother Novice Cassian.

The novitiate lasts one year. Novices experience an intense period of formation during the year, including courses on monastic spirituality, scripture, community history and personal development. They also engage in the daily liturgical prayer of the community, manual labor and other aspects of the fraternal life of the monastery. Br. Nov, Cassian joins Br. Nov. Sebastian and Br. Novice Isaac who are scheduled to complete their novitiate year at the beginning of September.
