Sedalia Public Library Sedalia Public Library serves the citizens of Sedalia and the surrounding area. Sedalia Public Library is a municipal library serving the citizens of Sedalia.

The library is governed by a nine member Board of Trustees appointed to 3 year terms by the Mayor and Sedalia City Council.

Sedalia Public Library Job Opening
Position: Children’s Librarian (Full Time, 40 hours per week)
The Sedalia Public Library is looking for an energetic person to fill a full-time position for the Children’s Librarian.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of child development; ages 0-18.
• A desire to offer innovative & engaging programs/events for children/youth.
• The knowledge or desire to learn current library theories and literacy practices.
• The ability to establish rapport with children, young adults and parents; to communicate clearly, and a desire to build lifelong learners.
• The desired candidate is dependable, organized, a learner, motivated, energetic, has a positive attitude, loves working with kids ages 0-18 and is an advocate for the library.
• Must be knowledgeable of various forms of technology available and a willingness to learn & grow as community needs change.
• Must be able to multi-task, solve problems and has strong time management skills.
• Experience planning successful programs for children and young adults is extremely helpful.
Other requirements: The physical requirements for this position include: lifting, pushing, standing, bending, reaching. This position does require some evenings and weekends.
Desired Education and Experience: Some college experience in the areas of library science, education, child development or related field is desired, but comparable experience will be considered. Experience working in a library is helpful, but not necessary. We can train the right person.
Benefit Package: Basic Health and Life Insurance, MO LA**RS Retirement Plan provided to employees at no cost; Dental and Vision Insurance available to purchase. Salary range is $18-$20.26 per hour and is dependent on education and experience. We offer new full-time employees: 12 paid vacation days, 12 paid holidays annually, and earned sick leave.
