FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wednesday, October 7, 2026

Bruce Blakeman, candidate for New York State Governor, will appear today on the "Retiree First Candidate Chat," a live conversation hosted by the NYC Organization of Public Service Retirees and its president, Marianne Pizzitola.

When: Today, Wednesday, October 7, at 4:30 PM

Where: Live on YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok

Watch here: https://www.youtube.com/live/nG0ESLz6jrY

The conversation is expected to focus on retiree health benefits, an issue affecting hundreds of thousands of retired public employees across New York State. Mr. Blakeman recently provided Ms. Pizzitola with a signed letter supporting legislation that would prevent retirees from being moved involuntarily into Medicare Advantage plans and would keep the health benefits they were promised when hired from being diminished.

The Nassau Retirees Legal Fund has worked alongside the NYC retirees on this legislation, which will be reintroduced in Albany in early 2027. The Fund represents roughly 1,900 Nassau County retirees and serves as a watchdog over the health benefits they earned through their years of public service.

The Nassau Retirees Legal Fund has not endorsed any candidate for office. Our interest is in securing lasting protections for retiree health benefits, and we welcome support for that goal from any candidate or elected official.

Members of the media are invited to watch the program live and to contact us for comment or interviews.

As we welcome the New Year, we extend our warmest wishes to all for a healthy, peaceful, and fulfilling year ahead.

Our organization remains steadfast in its mission to protect the rights, benefits, and dignity of retirees. While our careers in public service may be behind us, the need to remain vigilant in safeguarding what was earned through years of dedication and sacrifice has never been more important.

In the year ahead, we will continue to advocate strongly on behalf of retirees, monitor policies that impact retirement security, and speak out whenever benefits or protections are threatened. Retirement should be a time of stability—not uncertainty—and we remain committed to ensuring retirees have a strong, independent voice.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. Together, we move into the New Year united, informed, and prepared to defend the interests of all retirees.

Happy New Year, and best wishes for a safe, healthy, and prosperous year ahead.
