Last week, our community lost one of the greats! A woman who dedicated her life to her family, friends, students, and community. Lil Richardson’s impact goes far beyond what is measurable. Her quick wit, strive for progress, and care for others made her memorable to everyone she met. She had a way of connecting with others immediately and we’re so grateful we got to feel her belief in us. Lil, her family, and her friends have been AIM’s biggest and longest supporters. We’ll miss her championing us on and hope we make her proud along the way. Sending so much love to her friends and family and also gratitude for sharing her with the rest of us. ❤️

SCHROON LAKE | Lillian Noxon Richardson passed away Feb. 28, 2026. She was 96 years old.

SLCS kids aren’t the only ones stepping up for AIM’s Inclusive Playground- our neighbors are joining in, too! Hadley recently set up a lemonade stand at the Ticonderoga Farmers Market and raised $50 for the playground project! Her thoughtfulness and generosity shows how kids across our region are rallying together to make inclusive play a reality. Hadley's kind heart is proof that even the smallest hands can make a big difference! Thank you, Hadley! 🍋

🍋 We're giving a BIG shoutout to Emma, Avery, Riley, and Maddison (not pictured) who set up a lemonade stand and donated every single dollar- $165 in all!- to AIM’s Inclusive Playground Project!

This sweet idea came from Emma, who wants a playground where she can play alongside ALL of her friends! She rallied her sister and cousins who joined in without hesitation, and together they turned kindness into action.

We’re blown away by their generosity, teamwork, and entrepreneurial spirit. Way to go, girls! (And kudos to their parents raising such thoughtful kids!)

🛶 When she’s not leading her students, she’s leading the pack—First grade teacher Mo O'Connor placed FIRST in her class!🥇

She crushed the 90 miler and raised over $4,500 for Adirondack Inclusion Movement and the inclusive playground project!

Mo shared that the race feels a lot like Schroon Lake- like one big family- and she’s absolutely right! Just like our community does time and time again, this community SHOWED UP! From the paddlers beside her to the friends and family cheering her on, and every donor who gave along the way- THANK YOU! And, congratulations Monique! You are an inspiration!

On this International Day of Charity, we’re reminded that giving comes in many forms including time, talent, and heart.

This year, one incredible first-grade teacher, Mo O'Connor, is showing her support in the most Adirondack way possible: by paddling 90 miles in an iconic canoe race and she is dedicating every stroke to building a more inclusive future for students!
She also launched a fundraiser and has already raised $2,500 toward her $3,000 goal to help make an inclusive playground a reality!

Her journey is proof that charity isn’t just about writing checks- it’s about pouring your passion, strength, and energy into something bigger than yourself.

You can cheer her on AND join her in making a difference by donating to her Go Fund Me link or directly to AIM today. Together, we can create a space where all kids can play together!

A little info about the Adirondack Canoe Classic- a 90 mile canoe race- that Schroon Lake Central School’s first grade teacher Monique Desiree is paddling in while raising awareness and funds for our inclusive playground project! 🛶🛝

Peter Ostrum has worn a lot of hats throughout his lifetime. Now retired, he spent a career as a large-animal veterinarian in the Black River Valley. Before that, and perhaps what he is most widely known for, Ostrum was a child actor who starred as Charlie Bucket in the 1971 film “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.”

On Friday, Ostrum stood before a captive audience at the Big Moose Community Chapel in the western Adirondacks. He was there to give a lecture on one of his favorite pursuits — marathon canoe racing — and specifically on the race that defines the sport locally: the Adirondack Canoe Classic, more commonly known as the 90-Miler.
