South Central Industrial Association (SCIA) represents more than 250 member companies with over 200,000 employees, many of whom are engaged in servicing the oil, gas and marine operations in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico and around the world.We serve as the economic engine for the bayou region, which is the hub for the offshore oil, gas and marine service businesses in Louisiana, while being interactive with the industry throughout the nation.In recognizing that we are "strength in numbers," SCIA advocates for levee protection, infrastructure, regulatory issues, workforce development, coastal preservation and coastal restoration.

During National Manufacturing Week, SCIA and Fletcher Technical Community College welcomed more than 100 local high school students for hands-on tours of manufacturing and industrial facilities across the Bayou Region.

Students visited Sealevel Construction Inc., John Deere Thibodaux, Hunting Energy Services, Bollinger Shipyard, and K&B Industies, gaining firsthand insight into the technology, skills, and career opportunities available in our region.

For more than five years, this program has introduced nearly 1,000 students to the diverse career pathways within our industrial workforce.

Some members of our NextGen Leadership Coalition spent the morning seeing economic development in action across the Bayou Region.

We visited the Houma-Terrebonne Airport Commission to learn more about the region’s role in the future of aviation, including the opportunities emerging through LIFTOff Louisiana and advanced air mobility.

We also toured the Terrebonne Port Commission, a 680-acre industrial and marine facility strategically positioned along the Houma Navigational Canal and supporting energy, shipbuilding, fabrication and marine operations.

We were also joined by Terrebonne Economic Development Authority as we explored the partnerships, infrastructure and opportunities shaping the future of Terrebonne Parish and the Bayou Region.

This is what NextGen is all about: seeing firsthand what makes our region unique and learning how we can help shape what comes next.

Investing in the future of the Bayou Region!

SCIA and the Bayou Industrial Group are proud to establish a $40,000 endowed scholarship at Fletcher Technical Community College, supporting local students pursuing degrees, industry certifications and specialized training.

This builds on nearly three decades of SCIA and BIG investing in education and workforce development, with more than $500,000 in scholarships awarded to hundreds of local students.
