After years of battling alcoholism, Abel is finally moving closer to home. God has helped him find freedom from addiction while restoring his relationships with his family.

Abel graduated from our program in May 2025 and has since served as a vocational resident at our thrift store. We celebrated Abel with a send-off as he prepares to leave the Mission and move to Wyoming to be closer to family.

Women at our recovery home are reading The Steps to Freedom in Christ, a seven-step process developed by Dr. Neil T. Anderson to help replace lies with God’s truth and find freedom from strongholds. Each book study explores prayer, listening prayer, the Word of God, and healing for the body, mind and soul.

We’re especially grateful for the women from Santa Maria Vineyard Church who have faithfully volunteered with this book study from the very beginning.

Nicole is a graduate of the Life Recovery Program and served as a Vocational Resident at our women's recovery home. She’s heading to Maryland, where she has accepted a job as a companion for an elderly woman. She’ll also work as a tutor while continuing her MBA studies. With her children living in Maryland, she’ll continue working toward reunification with them.

Nicole is one of the most hardworking and caring people you’ll meet. She loves helping others, teaching, and encouraging the women around her. We surprised her with a going-away party with staff, residents, and a few alumni she shared the program with. There was pizza, volleyball, and plenty of time to honor Nicole before she begins this next chapter.

The corn we planted last month is growing! The women at the shelter home and Operations Coordinator Rudy have also planted romaine lettuce, broccoli, and cauliflower in the planter boxes.

One new resident shared that she had never planted anything before, but always wanted to learn. Now, she’s getting that opportunity. This farm project is teaching the women about responsibility, patience, and how hard work can produce something beautiful.

Today we celebrate the people who make the 805 such a special place to call home. To every volunteer, donor, church, business, and neighbor who has walked alongside Rescue Mission Alliance, thank you.

Your kindness has changed lives, and we’re grateful to serve this community together. Happy 805 Day!

Director Luke gives a tour of the new micro farm at our women’s recovery home, where an empty backyard is being transformed into a place of growth, healing, and community.

With help from First Christian Church and their amazing youth team, this space now includes garden beds, a cornfield, and a volleyball court for our residents to enjoy.

The produce grown here will provide fresh food for residents in our Life Recovery Program and help us provide more fresh produce to families in need throughout the community.

Young adults from First Christian Church, alongside Pastor Josh Schack, helped build raised garden beds for the new micro farm at our women’s recovery home. What started as wood and soil will become fresh produce for residents in our Life Recovery Program.

The church team also helped restore our backyard patios by sanding and painting, creating a better space for our residents to enjoy.

The youth group from First Christian Church blessed the women’s shelter home with a full restoration, transforming the space into a welcoming place of hope and healing.

The backyard is also being transformed into a working farm that will provide fresh produce throughout the year for the men and women in our Life Recovery Program. We’re grateful for the people who help create spaces where lives are transformed.

This week, Dominic, our men's program house manager, shared how God rescued him from addiction and transformed his life through the Rescue Mission.

The students at First Christian Church had the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions about addiction, recovery, and the hope found in Christ. We're grateful for the chance to share what God is still doing today.

A major transformation is underway at the Rescue Mission Alliance Central Coast women’s home.

First Christian Church volunteers partnered with four men from our Life Recovery Program to tackle the overgrown front hill and yard. Together, they’re clearing out years of growth and preparing the space for fresh bark and a beautiful new landscape.

We’re grateful for partners who show up, work hard, and help create spaces of hope for the women we serve.
