We wanted to get involved in the community when we first moved to Santa Maria in 2000. In 2001 we volunteered with the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program, we became Board members in 2002. We've always enjoyed attending both fun and benefit runs and suddenly realized that there were no local runs to benefit the children in our area. The first five years were held at the Maverick Saloon in S
anta Maria. With the Maverick no longer in business, we had to look for a new venue. So...the Santa Maria Elks Lodge became home for the "Sixth Annual" and subsequent runs. Until you get involved with something like this, you don’t realize just how many families are out there that need our help. There are so many children in our community who could pass the holidays without the simple joy of opening even one gift. Together we can make this possible. In 2012, the local Marine Corps Reserve Detachment League told us that our organization brings in the most toys for the children in our area. We are very proud of this, and know we wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for all of our supporters. This event has been a success since we started it - together we have helped to “put a smile on the faces of many children”. A big "thanks" to all who have supported our event and we hope to see you at future events. And a big "thanks" to the many volunteers who have helped make the event happen.
