This past weekend we hosted our annual Membership Tea at the Guadalupe Social Club with a literary theme, decorating bookmarks and having a book exchange. We recognized members for their years of service and celebrated 15 years as a chartered club. We even welcomed six new members!

Yesterday we hosted our second annual Battle of the Books event for 4th-6th grade students in SMBSD at Libbon Elementary School. It was a huge success!
Last month we also hosted our first Junior High School Battle of the Books at Fesler JHS for SMBSD and OUSD students.

Dozens of Santa Maria elementary school students are putting their literacy knowledge to the test in the annual Santa Maria-Bonita School District's annual "Battle of the Books."

Looking to help some kids this holiday season? We’re collecting gift cards valued at $25 or less to give to CASA members to take the children they sponsor out to eat or for a fun local activity such as bowling, miniature golf, or to a children’s museum or a movie. If you would like to donate a gift card or two, you can bring them by KIA Santa Maria and turn them in to any Altrusa member in a red apron. Thank you!

A huge THANK YOU to Glow Installations for sponsoring a tree and for helping us spread the word about our Magical Christmas Trees Fundraiser at KIA Santa Maria and the Festival of Trees located at the mall! Each of our events raises money to support those in need in our community, from young students to senior citizens.
