📣 COME ONE, COME ALL! BARGAINING STARTS WITH YOU!

SAEA is kicking off this year’s bargaining process with an open Bargaining Brainstorm Session on Tuesday, August 25 at 4:00 PM at the SAEA Office.

This isn’t just an informational meeting. We want your voice in the room.

🔴 Learn how the bargaining process works
🔵 Hear what we can (and can’t!) address through bargaining
🟡 Discuss the contract articles we could open this year
🔴 Help narrow our priorities down to key areas
🔵 Shape the member bargaining survey
🟡 Bring your questions for an open Q&A / Ask Us Anything

And one of the biggest changes this year: bargaining will be OPEN. 👀

We said we wanted more transparency, more member input, and more opportunities to be involved. This is where that starts.

Welcome back, everyone! 🍎

I hope you all had a wonderful first week of school.

Benjamin and I had the privilege of visiting several campuses this week, including Madison, Kennedy, Martin, Lincoln, Pio Pico, Roosevelt Walker, Lathrop Intermediate, Santa Ana High School, and Century High School. We were welcomed warmly at every single one.

I am extremely grateful to our administrators for taking the time to show us around, introduce us to their teams, and open their classroom doors. Seeing our students settle in, our teachers in their element, and the energy on every campus was the best possible way to start the year.

Here is to a great school year ahead! 💚

On Juneteenth, we pause to honor June 19, 1865: the day the last enslaved people in Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. That delay is part of the truth too.

As educators, we are called to remember that the fight for equality is far from over. We understand the importance of teaching the full, honest history of our nation - including the painful realities of slavery, racism, and discrimination - not to dwell in the past, but to ensure it is never repeated.

By facing these truths with our students, we build classrooms where ALL students are seen, supported, and met with compassion, connection, and understanding. This is the work. This is Juneteenth.
