WHY PROP 3 MATTERS TO OUR EDUCATORS

Hear from James De Leo, an SAEA member, about why they’re supporting Yes on Proposition 3 and what continued funding for public education means to them, their students, and our schools. 💙

📚 What is Prop 3?
Proposition 3 would make permanent the existing voter-approved income tax rates on high-income Californians that are currently scheduled to expire in 2031. At 2025 income levels, the additional rates apply to income above approximately $371,000 for individuals and $742,000 for couples filing jointly.

The measure maintains an estimated $5–15 billion in annual state revenue, with funding supporting public education and other state programs. The measure specifies that education revenues are allocated 89% to K–12 schools and 11% to community colleges.

SAEA supports Yes on Prop 3.

Today we celebrate the coaches across SAUSD who give so much of their time, energy, and heart to our students. 💙

From the early mornings and late practices to the tough drills, big games, and countless words of encouragement, our coaches do so much more than teach a sport. They build confidence, teamwork, perseverance, and community and they believe in our students every step of the way. 🏀🏈⚽🏐🎾

To all of our SAEA coaches: thank you for showing up for our students, both on and off the field. We appreciate you! 👏

ETHNIC STUDIES SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATE FORUM

SAEA is proud to host the Orange County Ethnic Studies Alliance at our Union Hall this Friday for an evening focused on ethnic studies and public education.

The forum will bring together ethnic studies practitioners and school board candidates from Santa Ana and Anaheim for discussion about ethnic studies, followed by a community Q&A.

Participating candidates include Germaine Neumann (Anaheim Area 1), Alfonso Rodriguez (Anaheim Area 1), Roberto Garcia (Anaheim Area 2), and Hector Bustos (Santa Ana District 5).

👥 Parents, educators, students, and supportive community members are welcome.

📣 ONE MONTH UNTIL ELECTION DAY! 🗳️

The November 3 General Election is almost here! Here are a few important dates and resources to help our members and Santa Ana community prepare:

📬 Voter Information Guides: Orange County began mailing County Voter Information Guides in late September, and the state guide is being mailed between Sept. 24 and Oct. 13. California Secretary of State
🗳️ Vote-by-Mail begins: Ballots will begin mailing to registered voters no later than October 5. Ballot drop boxes also open by this date. California Voter Guide
✍️ Registration deadline: October 19 is the deadline to register online or update your registration in time to have a ballot mailed to you. Miss the deadline? Same Day Registration is available at Vote Centers through Election Day. California Secretary of State
📍 Voting in person: Santa Ana has multiple Vote Centers, with the first locations opening October 24 and additional locations opening October 31. On Election Day, Vote Centers are open 7 AM–8 PM. OC Vote
🔎 Find your Vote Center or ballot drop box through the Orange County Registrar of Voters.
