Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community partners, Cape Cod 5 and the Raymond G. Tourville Memorial Foundation, this year’s Thanksgiving luncheon is shaping up to be something truly special!

Details for Veteran’s Day weekend events at the Bourne National Cemetery

Good morning comrades

I would like to inform everyone of the change to this year‘s Veterans Day ceremony at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne the ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026

George Seaver the master of ceremonies at the National Cemetery has moved the ceremony to Saturday in hopes of increasing attendance and participation. Other Veterans Day events can create scheduling conflicts in this change is intended to give more people the opportunity to attend

Schedule for Saturday, November 7

7 AM Flagg placement volunteers will begin placing American flags on veteran graves at approximately 7 AM
Flagg placement is expected to finish around noon

1 PM Veterans Day ceremony

The ceremony at Massachusetts National Cemetery scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM and conclude around 2 PM
I encourage all honor guard members who are available to participate in this important day of remembrance. Our present shows respect and gratitude to the men and woman who served our country and those who made the ultimate sacrifice, please let me know if you are available to participate so we can plan accordingly. Thank you for your continuing dedication and service service

Teaching Tuesday 🇺🇸

Today we’re highlighting the Three-Volley Salute — one of the most solemn and meaningful traditions in a military funeral.
The tradition dates back to old battlefield customs, when fighting would pause so the dead and wounded could be recovered. Three r***e volleys signaled that the fallen had been cared for and the battle could resume.

Today, the Three-Volley Salute serves as a final tribute to a veteran’s service, sacrifice, and life. It is a powerful act of respect for the fallen and a meaningful moment for the families left behind.
It is also often confused with a 21-gun salute, but the two are not the same.

The Three-Volley Salute is the ceremony most commonly performed by a funeral Honor Guard for veterans.
At Operation Honor Guard, we believe these traditions matter — because every veteran deserves to be honored with dignity.
