Olivia's Bears Olivia’s Bears provides teddy bears and more to children in WNY who struggle with medical conditions. As of October 1, 2010, Olivia is cancer free!

Olivia’s Bears is a non-for-profit organization, created by Olivia Gonyea, with effort to reach out to children who are struggling with a medical condition. Olivia battled Ewings Sarcoma, a form of bone cancer at the age of eight. Thanks to the efforts of friends, family members, and the community, Olivia is able to give back to her peers who are struggling with their health. The gift of a Bear is

a sign of hope, a symbol of love and support. “When you are sad, sick or just feeling down, hold this bear and know that you are not alone, and that you can and will overcome these hard times.”
Olivia knows first-hand that she could not have made it through her struggles without the love and support of others. Her hope is that the gifted Bears remind children in need of how many people love and care for them. Always remember – never give up!

We are incredibly grateful to the Professional Nurses Association of Western New York for the honor of receiving the Board of Directors Award this year.

A special thank you to Sarah Winstanley for nominating Olivia’s Bears and presenting us with this meaningful award. Your support and belief in our mission mean so much to us.

We were honored to share the story of Olivia’s Bears with a room filled with extraordinary nurses and healthcare professionals whose compassion, dedication, and commitment make a difference in the lives of countless patients and families every day.

We also had the privilege of sitting with Scott Bieler, who shared a powerful message about “choosing to live a life that matters.” Looking around the room, it was clear that every nurse and healthcare worker in attendance has chosen exactly that—going above and beyond to care for others and touch lives in meaningful ways.

We are truly humbled to be recognized among such remarkable individuals and grateful to have been part of such a special evening. Thank you for this incredible honor.
