For continuation high school students, a learning environment full of life and color can make all the difference.

That's exactly what students at Angels Gate High in San Pedro will have next semester, thanks to Rich Development Enterprises in partnership with Sharefest.

Volunteers recently gathered at the school to paint a large lighthouse-themed mural, plant flowers and native plants in the raised garden beds, and do a general cleanup of the grounds — and they were always quick to offer a smile and a helping hand.

As loyal supporters of Sharefest's mission to help continuation high school students gain economic mobility, Rich Development has worked with us on numerous service days at local schools. It's a testament to the company's deep roots in San Pedro, and its ethos of cultivating personal relationships and giving back to the community they call home.

Four weeks down, two to go for our 2026 Summer Internship Program!

With graduation and potential career opportunities just around the corner for Sharefest’s interns, here are just a few of the remarkable experiences they have shared so far:

🎓 A field trip to El Camino College in Torrance, where they got an up close and personal look at the school’s Career Technical Education facilities including automotive technology and repair, welding, architecture, game development and cosmetology, as well as hands-on training programs, financial aid resources, job search support and much more.

🪜 Guest speakers from Cedars-Sinai's 11-week LADDERS internship — including TIS Construction Services CEO Farrel Stevins, PNG Builders Vice President David Pulley, and former Sharefest interns Priscilla and Jairo — who highlighted the exciting careers available in construction, engineering, architecture and design fields.

⛵ A harbor tour on board the Exy Johnson with the Los Angeles Maritime Institute - LAMI, where interns helped raise sails, climbed the rigging, studied navigation and learned about jobs in the maritime industry and the Port of Los Angeles.

Experiences like these show young people the future achievements they could reach and the specific steps they can take to get there — and it’s all made possible by the ongoing support of our industry partners and community leaders. Let’s keep that momentum going for the next two weeks!

When exploring potential career paths, it’s best to go right to the source.

Our summer interns got the chance to meet and network with Sharefest industry partners during our recent Partner Panel, allowing them to ask meaningful questions about career options and industry expectations from top local employers.

The valuable insights and advice they gained — including how to land an interview, what’s expected of them in the workplace, and even how a handshake can make a strong first impression — will give them a big advantage as they venture into the workforce.

Many thanks to our featured speakers, including The Home Depot's National Account Manager Michelle Link; Kaiser Permanente Administration Specialist Kayla Jefferson; Malaga Bank First Vice President and Business Development Manager Julia Parton; Western States Regional Council of Carpenters union member Wesley Crunk; and Gaetano's Restaurant owner Vince Guiliano, who also provided a delicious pizza lunch from Piccini Italian Takeout.

🌱 Community is built when people invest in the places they call home.

Recently, employees from Watson Land Company joined Sharefest and City of Carson, CA Parks & Recreation teams for a day of service at Del Amo Park, helping plant, landscape, and paint in a space that means so much to local residents.

For many volunteers, this park is more than just a project site—it’s part of their community, where families gather and neighbors connect. Together, we’re helping create spaces that foster connection, belonging, and opportunity for local residents.

We’re grateful to Watson Land Company for their continued partnership and commitment to giving back. Service projects like these not only create immediate community impact—they also help support Sharefest’s mission of creating pathways to education, employment, and economic mobility for continuation high school youth across Los Angeles County.

Sharefest’s 2026 Summer Internship is officially underway!

Over the next six weeks, 26 continuation high school youth from across Los Angeles will gather at the Lundquist Youth Leadership Center to build skills, gain real-world experience, and explore pathways to education and employment.

The journey kicked off with introductions, team-building, and a marshmallow-and-pasta challenge that put collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving to the test.

Now, our interns are ready to explore career opportunities, strengthen their professional skills, and build relationships that can open doors long after the program ends.

Thank you to our partners and supporters for making this transformative program possible and helping create pathways to opportunity for the next generation.

🏎️ The Sharefest team works hard, but we play harder!

We had a blast at the go-kart track in Torrance earlier this month, celebrating the end of the school year and the start of an exciting summer.

With the 2026 summer internship program less than a week away, our team is full speed ahead for the next group of students who are ready to find their career path and take control of the future.

Recently, we celebrated a milestone we’re incredibly proud of—the graduation of Sharefest’s pilot Career Technical Education Welding Program cohort.

A huge thank you to AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles The Boeing Company & Dynamic Education for helping make this opportunity possible and for investing in real pathways to opportunity for our students.

Over 18 weeks, this cohort completed hands-on welding training, earned industry-recognized certifications, and took meaningful steps toward careers in the skilled trades.

For continuation high school students, access to opportunities like this can be transformational. Through Sharefest’s CTE program, students gain not only technical training, but also career readiness skills like communication, interviewing, workplace confidence, and professional development—because success in the workforce requires both skill and preparation.

And the pathway doesn’t stop at graduation. During the celebration, students connected directly with employment partners — including the Western states Union carpenter — to learn about immediate job opportunities, apprenticeships, and next steps into the trades.

This is what it looks like when education connects directly to workforce opportunity.

Leadership, service, and community define the Los Angeles Lakers legacy—and as the team makes its playoff push, that legacy is on full display. It’s an exciting moment for the city and a reminder of what sustained excellence, discipline, and belief can build.

Those same values drive Sharefest’s work preparing young people for life beyond high school.

Over the years, that connection has come to life through our community—most visibly at our annual gala, where leaders who embody these values help advance our mission:

* Honoring NBA legend Jerry West with the Bill Sharman Humanitarian Award, with Lakers leaders and legends including John Ireland, Mychal Thompson, Keith Erickson, and Gary Vitti helping make the evening memorable
* Recognizing Stu Lantz with the Bill Sharman Humanitarian Award, with James Worthy helping celebrate the occasion
* The leadership and advocacy of Joyce Sharman, whose long-standing connection to Sharefest helped bring these special moments to life
* A deep, ongoing relationship with the Lakers Youth Foundation—connecting Lakers leadership and legacy with the young people we serve

This is the work that doesn’t quit: we prioritize relationships first—because that’s what drives real, lasting results. That shared commitment continues to guide our work—and through our partnership with the NBA Foundation, we’re expanding access to career pathways and economic opportunity for the next generation.

Really grateful for our long-standing partnership with Balfour Beatty US.

Their team showed up across three campuses today and did the heavy lifting—bringing time, effort, and care into each space. It means a lot to have partners who consistently invest in the communities we serve and help to make our mission possible.

And a big thank you to all of the partners, subcontractors, school leaders, and districts who helped make today possible.
