Huckleberry Youth Programs works in solidarity with young people and their families to advance their personal growth and social equity.

Since our inception in 1967, more than 224,000 youth in San Francisco and Marin Counties have accessed our programming which provides SAFETY, HEALTH, JUSTICE & EDUCATION. Huckleberry services touch the lives of 5,000 youth and families each year.

“What began during the Summer of Love with the nation's first runaway youth shelter and the Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic evolved into a network of specialized clinics that combined medical care, mental health treatment, sexual health services, and connections to housing and social support under one roof.

Now, that model is being dismantled as San Francisco shifts young patients to larger primary care clinics and expands telehealth services. Supporters say the city [...] may be abandoning a philosophy of care built around meeting vulnerable young people where they are.”

We’re delighted to welcome Judy Cordova to her new role as Access to College Equity (ACE) Academy Manager at Huckleberry Youth Programs. Judy leads with curiosity, warmth, gentleness, trust, support, and care. She brings a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to everything she does.

With years of experience in youth development and college access, plus a deep passion for social justice and equity, Judy’s leadership will help expand our college access and equity services for first-generation youth.

We’re so excited for the opportunities her role will help grow. Join us in celebrating Judy’s new chapter as she helps empower the next generation of leaders. 💜✨

Announcing Huckleberry's newest programming, SanARTE! 📣

SanARTE is a space where Newcomer youth can build community, express themselves through art, and strengthen their emotional well-being. 🎨

Each week, participants come together to create, learn new coping skills, explore local resources, and connect with peers who share similar experiences. From painting and tie-dye to scrapbooking, ceramics, and outdoor adventures, every activity is designed to encourage creativity, confidence, healing, and belonging. 🌟

In SanARTE, we believe every young person deserves a safe space where they feel seen, supported, and empowered. Through SanARTE, we're helping Newcomer youth build meaningful connections while navigating life in a new community. 🌿

Big thanks to Marin County Government for your support in making this project a reality, and for your partnership in ensuring young people have safe spaces for self-expression, community-building, and belonging.

Exploring new horizons! 🎓✨

Our Huckleberry ACE Academy rising seniors just returned from an unforgettable tour of universities across Southern California. For many of our first-generation students, these campus visits are vital opportunities to experience college life first-hand, explore different departments, and envision their own futures on campuses that might otherwise seem out of reach. 🚌🏫

One of our rising seniors describes it here: "I loved the experience of going to the So. Cal trip. I am very grateful for the opportunity of being able to visit schools in person. I enjoyed hanging with my class and getting to joke around with the ACE Team. Though it was very hot, everyone enjoyed seeing new campuses and looking through the campus stores." 😎

Yep, Bay Area kids have to acclimate to that So. Cal weather. But we know they can handle it, along with more new experiences and challenges, too. ☀️

We are so proud of the ACE crew for taking this important step toward their future! Through ACE programming, they’re accessing educational opportunities, breaking down barriers, and realizing their own power and potential. 💜

At Huckleberry Youth Programs, we’ve been providing youth services for decades. But on a deeper level, we’re working to transform systems of care to meet young people where they are when it counts the most.

Our Theory of Change is rooted in the belief that when we offer holistic, youth-centered care in a safe, nonjudgmental space, we help individual youth stabilize, creating a ripple effect that advances social equity.

By meeting basic needs and partnering with young people to foster personal growth, we are actively:
