First Choice Support Services Inc - CACFP What is CACFP? Each day more than 56,000 children
participate in the CACFP in Kansas. The
program plays a vital role in improving
the quality of child care.

CACFP is the Child and Adult Care
Food Program, a Federal program that
provides healthy meals and snacks to
children and adults receiving child care. What kinds of meals may be
served?
• Breakfast consists of a serving of
milk, fruit or vegetable, and bread/
grain.
• Lunch and Dinner require milk,
meat or meat alternate, two different
servings of fruits or vegetables, and a
bread/grain.
• Snacks include two different servings
of the four components: milk, meat or
meat alternate, fruit or vegetable, or
bread/grain. Who is eligible for CACFP?
• Children until age 13
• Certain categories of children under
special circumstances. How does the CACFP work? CACFP reimburses participating child
care homes for serving nutritious meals. It is administered at the Federal level by
the U.S. Department of Agriculture and
at the State level by the Kansas State
Department of Education (KSDE). A child care provider who is licensed by
the Kansas Department of Health and
Environment and operating the child care
in a home is eligible to participate in the
CACFP. There is no cost to a provider. All
homes participate in the CACFP under
a sponsoring organization. Sponsoring
organizations play a critical role in
supporting home child care providers
through training, technical assistance,
and monitoring. All organizations offer
the same reimbursement rates and
are governed by the same rules and

We sincerely appreciate the years of service and the time they spent assisting our providers and supporting the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

Today I received these beautiful flowers from the KASU Sponsors of Kansas in honor of my retirement, and I was truly touched.

After so many years of sharing this work, learning together, supporting one another, and walking through so many seasons side by side, this thoughtful gesture means more than I can put into words.

The flowers are beautiful, but it is the kindness, friendship, and memories behind them that I will treasure most.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for thinking of me and for helping make this transition into retirement feel so loved and celebrated. I am deeply grateful for each of you and for the journey we have shared.

Welcoming our new Executive Director!

🌟We are absolutely thrilled to introduce Kelly Horn as the incoming Executive Director of First Choice Support Services, Inc.! Kelly brings over 25 years of dedicated experience in child nutrition and wellness. She is deeply passionate about programs like the Child and Adult Care Food Program and is committed to ensuring all of our amazing providers feel supported, valued, and fully equipped to succeed.

Over the coming months, Kelly looks forward to listening, learning, and meeting many of you during upcoming home visits alongside our Office Manager and Home Monitor, Tracy Mai.
