🚨 I NEED TO BE REAL WITH Y’ALL FOR A SECOND. 🚨
I shared the dogs who urgently need fosters ASAP, but I need everyone to understand where Ghosts Mission Rescue is right now.
We currently have 14 dogs in our care.
Every single one of those 14 dogs was, at some point, abandoned, unwanted, overlooked, surrendered, or left without someone willing to step up for them.
And I’ll own my part in this: people share dogs with me because they know I have a hard time saying no. That is something I have to work on.
Because rescue is physically and mentally breaking me.
I step in where others step out. But something I’ve noticed over and over again is that once we save a dog, suddenly everyone breathes a sigh of relief:
“Oh good, they’re safe with rescue.”
And then people forget about them.
But being “safe with rescue” is NOT the finish line.
Aggie was once the dog everyone was worried about. So many of our longtime followers remember the condition she was in.
Maycee became Bell County Animal Shelters longest resident after people walked past her kennel over and over during adoption hours.
Chase made it out of a shelter and into a home, only for them to realize his energy level was more than they were prepared for.
Minnie was returned because, like humans, she simply doesn’t like every dog she meets.
And Sir Zane Bear? His owner knew where he was and knew the condition he was in. Not one care was given except by the kind couple who picked him up and helped him and his ER foster. This dog knows practically NOTHING a normal dog should have been taught.
Those are only a few examples.
Today—and really these past couple of weeks—has been incredibly overwhelming. I would be lying if I said this rescue hasn’t gotten close to the point of shutting its doors.
I am exhausted. I am emotional. I am at my wits’ end.
And I need to make something VERY CLEAR:
🚫 GHOSTS MISSION RESCUE INTAKE IS CLOSED INDEFINITELY. 🚫
I will not take another dog into this rescue until EVERY dog currently in our care has been adopted.
I’m dead serious this time.
We have 14 dogs.
Those 14 dogs need us to finish what we started.
They need fosters.
They need adopters.
They need shares.
They need people talking about them.
They need people advocating for them just as loudly NOW as they did when they desperately needed someone to save them.
Because rescue doesn’t end when I say “yes.”
It ends when that dog walks into a safe, loving, FOREVER home. ❤️
And before I end this, I need to say something else: the people who ARE helping us right now are AMAZING. Every foster. Every adopter. Every person who donates. Every person who shares our posts, comments, likes, tags friends, shows up to events, or tells someone about one of our dogs—you are the reason I’ve been able to keep going.
I couldn’t do any of this without our village, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.
But right now, our village needs to rally around these 14 dogs.
Please help me get them HOME.
