šŸ¾šŸŽ“ While weā€™re still celebrating our graduate and all of her amazing accomplishments, please still be patient with us!

Yesterday, our kiddo graduated in the Top 10 of the Class of 2026, and we could not be more proud of her! ā¤ļø

Now let me introduce you to little miss Ember.

Ember is currently staying with us and has become especially attached to our kiddo. She simply wants to be wherever her people are. If youā€™re looking for a loyal companion who wants to be by your side, Ember is your girl!

āœØ About Ember:
šŸ¾ Approximately 2 years old 34 lbs smaller girl
šŸ¾ Spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and fully vetted
šŸ¾ Potty trained
šŸ¾ Quiet in her crate
šŸ¾ Good with cats, kids, and small dogs
šŸ¾ Loves blankets and cozy spots
šŸ¾ OBSESSED with Yak Cheese chews
šŸ¾ Loves to play and would enjoy regular walks to help burn off that fun heeler energy

Ember has done wonderfully with all of my dogs. Like any well-adjusted dog, she will set boundaries when she feels overwhelmed, and when she does, we simply give her some quiet time. She settles beautifully and enjoys having a safe space to relax.

This sweet girl has been waiting far too long for someone to see just how special she is. She doesnā€™t need muchā€”just a family willing to love her and let her be part of their everyday life.

When this family reached out to foster Nyx, I was very unsure. She is so fearful of men. But they assured me heā€™d keep distance and theyā€™d work through her fears. When she met this man she went STRAIGHT to him and stayed loving on him the whole time. Itā€™s a huge difference from what I saw the other night when she met the family who wanted to adopt her! Maybe sheā€™s only fearful of certain men. Weā€™ll work on that. But for now so grateful for them stepping up and helping Nyx! Sheā€™s such a good dog!!

Nyx went to her new foster tonight and sheā€™s already doing phenomenal. She even went straight to a man I think to prove me wrong; however, we need to focus on Ember. She needs her furever family ASAP! Even a foster please. But someone who can be consistent and teach her that not all humans suck. Sheā€™s pretty happy as it is but she will attach to one person QUICKLY! Sheā€™s a gentle girl who loves to cuddle but still playful. Sheā€™s good with kids, cats and dogs. Ember is fully vetted around 30 ish lbs so definitely on the smaller side.

This has been weighing heavy on me. I want to start off by saying THANK YOU to the family who met Nyx yesterday! ANY dog that goes to their family is going to be one of the luckiest dogs on the planet! This family is beyond amazing! Nyx was just a little unsure and afraid and thatā€™s okay!!! And to whomever hurt this girl to make her so unsure. Youā€™re a monster! To that family last night! Youā€™re amazing! Donā€™t forget it and I truly understand and support you always!!!!!

Yā€™all she did NOT get adopted this family wanted to; however, she is not cool with men. For their safety and the safety of the elderly parents they were unable to adopt. They LOVE her but couldnā€™t adopt. And thatā€™s okay!

Letā€™s talk about them. ā¤ļø

Some of the most overlooked dogs in shelters and rescues are pit mixesā€¦ and itā€™s not because of who they are ā€” itā€™s because of what people think they are.

The truth?
Pit mixes are some of the most loyal, loving, people-oriented dogs you will ever meet. They bond deeply. They love hard. And they just want to be part of a family.

But because of stigma, labels, and misinformationā€¦
they are often the last chosen and the first euthanized.

And thatā€™s the heartbreaking reality.

At Ghosts Mission Rescue, weā€™ve seen it firsthand ā€”
the shy ones who just need timeā€¦
the playful ones who never get a chanceā€¦
the ones who watch other dogs get picked over and over again.

And yet, they remain the ones who love the hardest.

Are they high energy sometimes? Yes.
Do they need structure and guidance? Absolutely.

But so does every dog.

Pit mixes are not defined by fear-based headlines.
They are defined by the homes that love them,
the people who give them a chance,
and the life theyā€™re finally allowed to live.
