And today… WE RAFFLE.

Our DSP Appreciation Week raffle winners will be drawn this afternoon, with some pretty great prizes up for grabs!

But before we wrap up this week, there’s one thing we want our DSPs to know:

The work you do matters 365 days a year.

In honor of DSP Appreciation Week, we present a completely unofficial, definitely-not-HR-approved guide to knowing whether you might be a Direct Support Professional. 😏

You might be a DSP if…

🚗 Your vehicle somehow becomes a combination taxi, lost-and-found and mobile command center.
☕ Caffeine isn't technically listed as a job requirement…but we all understand the situation.
📅 You started the day with a perfectly good plan and life said, “That's adorable.”
🔎 You have developed elite-level skills in finding phones, keys, wallets, glasses and other objects that were JUST RIGHT THERE.
🎉 You celebrate accomplishments that other people might overlook—because you know just how much work went into them.
🍳 You can make dinner, answer a question, solve a problem and remember tomorrow's appointment at approximately the same time.
🎶 You know everyone's favorite songs…and have heard some of them approximately 7,492 times.
🧠 You've become a professional problem-solver with a specialty in “Okay…how are we going to make THIS work?”
🩵 You know that sometimes the most important thing you can do is listen.

🎁 A LITTLE SWAG FOR A WHOLE LOT OF AWESOME 🩵

It’s Day 4 of DSP Appreciation Week, and today our managers are making the rounds delivering gifts and lifempowered swag to our homes!

The gifts are fun—but what we’re really celebrating are the people receiving them.

Our DSPs are there for ordinary days and huge milestones. They help people learn new skills, build independence, stay connected, make choices, advocate for themselves and participate in the communities they call home.

A lot of that work happens quietly, one moment at a time.

But those moments add up to something pretty incredible.

Thank you for showing up. Thank you for caring. Thank you for empowering. 🩵

🩵 SO…WHAT EXACTLY IS A DSP?

You hear us say “DSP” a lot around here.

DSP stands for Direct Support Professional—but those three words barely scratch the surface of what they actually do.

A DSP might help someone:

🏠 Build skills to live more independently
🍳 Plan meals, shop and cook
💼 Get ready for work or other activities
💊 Navigate health and personal care needs
🚗 Get where they need—and WANT—to go
💰 Learn budgeting and money skills
🤝 Build friendships and community connections
🗣️ Advocate for their wants, needs and choices
🎳 Get out, have fun and actually LIVE LIFE

But here’s the important part:

DSPs don’t decide what someone’s life should look like.

They provide the support, tools and encouragement that help people make their OWN choices and live the life THEY choose.

DSPs are problem-solvers, advocates, teachers, cheerleaders, listeners, community connectors and sometimes professional finders-of-the-thing-that-was-literally-right-there-five-minutes-ago. 😏

It’s skilled work. It’s important work. And it has an enormous impact on the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

That’s why we celebrate DSP Appreciation Week. 🩵

Because behind so many moments of independence, connection and possibility is a DSP saying:

“How can I support you?”

☕ DSP APPRECIATION WEEK: CAFFEINE EDITION ☕🩵

It’s Day 3 of DSP Appreciation Week, and today drinks are on us!

We’re treating our DSPs to a drink of their choice from a local coffee shop because if anyone deserves a little caffeine—or whatever their drink of choice may be—it’s the people who somehow manage to juggle approximately 847 things while still making sure the people they support are heard, respected and included. 🩵

DSP work isn’t always predictable.

Plans change. Life happens. Someone needs encouragement. Someone needs an advocate. Someone needs help solving a problem. And sometimes, someone just needs another person to sit beside them and listen.

Our DSPs show up for all of it.

So today: order the fancy drink. Add the extra shot. Get the whipped cream. Go wild. ☕😂

⛽ TODAY, WE’RE FUELING THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP US GOING! 🩵

It’s Day 2 of DSP Appreciation Week, and today is GAS DAY! ⛽🎉

Because our DSPs do a LOT of going.

🚗 Going to appointments.
🛒 Going grocery shopping.
☕ Going out for coffee.
🎳 Going bowling.
🌎 Going on adventures.
🩵 Going wherever life takes the people they support.

DSPs help make sure the people we support can get out, connect, participate and be part of their community.

So today, we’re putting a little fuel back in their tanks—literally. 😉

It’s just one small way we can say THANK YOU to the incredible crew that keeps lifempowered moving every single day.
