On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country. To obey the scout law. To help other people are all times. To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
We begin every meeting with the Scout Oath. We do this because it is important. A nation is made of its citizens. Without pride, duty, and respect for our nation, what are we?
Memorial Day isn't about barbeque and backyard parties. It's a day of remembrance for the fallen. We remember the generations that fought and died for our freedoms.
On Saturday we participated in Carry The Load in Rockwall. Yesterday we retired flags that have been worn, torn, soiled, and are no longer fit to represent our nation.
It seems and feels small in comparison to the sacrifice that brave men and women have made for generations. Yet, something somber and deeply meaningful is also felt.
I want to thank all of those who attended and made this weekend possible. We thank those brave men and women who are enshrined this holiday. And we pray for the families and friends that feel their loss the greatest.
