Tonight we hosted our Pack Popcorn Kickoff! Scouts and Parents got to learn all about how selling popcorn can help pay for their year in Scouting and all of the fun prizes they can get as they earn their way to adventure. Afterwards, we had some fun as we made it pop on the parachute, raced to fill our buckets, tugged our way to the popcorn, and had a tiny popcorn scavenger hunt.

We are heated up and ready to make our sales Pop this weekend for our first weekend of Storefronts!

We had a great time today for our July outing at Surf & Swim water park in City of Garland, Texas Government. It was a great time and if you missed us our recruitment flyer is in the photos!

Our Webelos Scouts are still having a great time a Webelos/AOL Camp at Camp James Ray.

A Scout’s first year summer camp experience is always an important one. It’s filled with excitement, anticipation, some fear and anxiety, and lots of adventure and the beginning of that true independence. It’s the first time many are leaving behind their parents and having to rely on others for guidance, support, and comfort. It’s also the first time that many are venturing away from home and sleeping in their own tents. The camp experience is also one of the best memories that they will have in Scouts and will play a major role in Scout Retention through the years. We are thankful to our leaders who are there with our Scouts and for programs that allow our youth to spread their wings.

Yesterday we sent 2 Webelo Scouts and 2 Leasers to Webelo/AOL Camp and Camp James Ray. Looks like day 1 was full of exploring and fun!

Today we had a planned outing to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center - Texas Parks and Wildlife for our Cub Scouts and their families. We spent the day touring the visitor center, took a tram ride tour to learn about the hatcheries and outdoor tanks, walked along The Wetlands trails where we encountered several different creatures, watched as they fed the fish in the theater aquarium, and did some fishing in the Zebco pond where we caught plenty of Catfish..

Last night we had our final awards and move up ceremony for our Scouts. 7 ranks, 74 adventures, and 10 special awards went out to our Scouts. They each then received the markings of their den and were presented with their new neckerchiefs, neckerchief slides, and handbooks for their next Den and Rank.

Tonight was our fishing themed night. Scouts worked with buddies as they rotated through a series of 6 stations this evening. They got to fish out the Scout Law at station 1, station 2 was all about learning to identify Freshwater Fish and how to properly hold them, station 3 was knot tying where Scouts got to learn and practice the improved clinch knot and the palomar knot. Station 4 had them testing their reflexes with a game of Shark Bite while station 5 was all about learning what gear you need for fishing, and station 6 had them casting their lines with some Backyard Bass. At the end scouts then got to celebrate with a snacklebox and a gift from our friends over at 4 to 4 Ever, Inc.

It was a fun night and we had the privilege of welcoming 2 new scouts to our family.
