Tonight our dens began working on their Let’s Camp elective adventures. Den 1, which consists of our Lions, Tigers, and Wolves learned how to buddy up and stand up together, reviewed what types of clothing they should take for different types of weather; and after learning some flashlight etiquette, went on a Scavenger hunt for the 12 points of the Scout Law in the dark.

Den 2: Our Bears, Webelos, and AOLs reviewed the Outdoor Code and Leave No Trace; began planning their campout for next month, and learned to tie a bowline knot.

At the end Scouts were awarded their adventure loops and pins for their outdoor adventures, prizes were given for our past week of popcorn sales, and we got to celebrate the birthday of one of our Scouts with singing and some cake.

It was a night full of fun and energy!

This week’s meeting looked a little different. We completed our outdoors adventures with planned hikes. The Webelo’s den went on their planned 2-mile hike at Rowlett Creek Preserve while our Lion, Tiger and Wolf dens went on a 30-minute hike at Duck Creek Park. Both groups did amazing and had a great time. This is a good example of how the program works for the different age groups.

Tuesday we continued our Outdoors Adventures ahead of our scheduled hikes for next week. Afterwards we had our weekly celebration and prizes for Popcorn sales. Our scouts have been doing great at raising their funds and displaying Scout Spirit.

Last night we began working on our Outdoors Adventures. While the Webelos den began planning a 2-mile hike, the Lions, Tigers, and Wolves learned about the Cub Scout six essentials and how they are used, as well as the importance of the Buddy system. To end our meeting we passed out the Bobcat adventure belt loops and pins that were earned last week, along with the adventure pins that were earned over the summer, and gave out prizes for this past week’s popcorn sales. Those who made their first sales and worked their first store fronts got to pick a prize from the prize bucket while five lucky Scouts received Squishy Dumplings for Overall Top Sales, Top Storefront Sales, Top Online Sales, Top Individual Sales, and Most Scout Spirit at a Storefront.

Another weekend of storefronts for our pack and we couldn’t be prouder of how hard they have been working.

Also, a huge shoutout to all of the Scouts who went out and braved the heat on Saturday. That heat index was no joke! Hope everyone stayed cool, hydrated, and safe!

What do we do after a weekend of fundraising? We have a meeting and begin working on our Bobcat Adventures! Ms. Alyssa worked with our Lions, Tigers, and Wolves tonight while Mr. Alex took the helm with the Bears, Webelos, and AOLs.

We learned, we played, and not pictured…we celebrated their hard work over the weekend.

Another great day of storefront sales and another day full of veteran and first time sellers. It has been amazing to watch our veteran cub scouts take that experience and independence this year and really showcase their salesmanship skills while also watching our newest Scouts overcome their fears and jump right in to earning their way.

For every no there has been a lesson in coping with disappoint but also how to stay positive and persevere. Every donation comes with a lesson of gratitude for the support of a stranger no matter the amount. And every sale comes with the victory of hard work. With every person these Scouts interact with there is a lesson to be learned but our biggest lesson this weekend was in staying positive and courteous even when we felt hot, cranky, tired, scared, and even a little disappointed.

A Scout is Trustworthy, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Cheerful, Brave, and Clean when selling Popcorn!

This was our first weekend out doing storefront sales. We had two Scouts work a 4 hour shift Friday night and today we had Scouts out again all day! In their first week of selling popcorn these Scouts have done $3,856 in sales! We are so proud of how hard each of our Scouts are working to fund their adventures in Scouting this year!

Today we had a planned outing to the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center - Texas Parks and Wildlife for our Cub Scouts and their families. We spent the day touring the visitor center, took a tram ride tour to learn about the hatcheries and outdoor tanks, walked along The Wetlands trails where we encountered several different creatures, watched as they fed the fish in the theater aquarium, and did some fishing in the Zebco pond where we caught plenty of Catfish..

Last night we had our final awards and move up ceremony for our Scouts. 7 ranks, 74 adventures, and 10 special awards went out to our Scouts. They each then received the markings of their den and were presented with their new neckerchiefs, neckerchief slides, and handbooks for their next Den and Rank.

So proud of these boys for all of their hard worr
