Bucky needs your help!

On Memorial Day morning, we found Bucky lying on the ground, unable to get up. We rushed him to the ER right away.

X-rays showed an obstruction in his intestines. The doctors weren’t sure what was causing it. They put him on IV and hoped it would pass on its own.

On Friday, we got a call from the hospital. Bucky hadn’t passed the obstruction. Emergency surgery was needed ASAP.

They successfully cleared the obstruction, but still need to monitor his recovery for the next week or so…

Our little guy has been through so much. Please keep Bucky in your prayers!

For those of you who have been following Bucky's recovery journey...drumroll, please...

He is recovering well!

The same foal who could barely stand is now lapping everyone at full speed! Over 30 days of rehab. Volunteers walking him through every single step. Bucky kept going.

We are so proud of you, buddy! We never gave up on you, and clearly, you never gave up on yourself!

We welcomed two tiny lives in April, yet it was a race against time.

On a Friday morning, Angie from our team spotted a newborn twin lambs at 8 and immediately brought the whole family into the barn with another team member Francisco.

By 9, when Rosa arrived, we noticed one of the newborns, Mylo, was on the ground. Too weak to stand or nurse. We called the vet right away and called a volunteer to come in as backup.

The timing couldn’t have been harder. The same morning, we had nearly 100 people arriving for a field trip at the farm. Yes, you read it right. 100.

The small lamb couldn’t stand nor nurse. The vet advised expressing milk first. A little to drink, the rest rubbed on his body. We tried. Nothing came out.

Meanwhile, we focused on keeping him warm since his temperature was low. As soon as his temperature came back up, he got to his feet and went straight for his mama.

Around 10:30, Francisco started bottle feeding Mylo. We have stocked up on colostrum, lamb milk powder, and bottles for the upcoming births, and it paid off.

From there, feedings continued every two hours, in the barn, close to mama.

By afternoon, we were figuring out who could cover overnight shifts. Every two hours, for days maybe. It’s a lot to ask of anyone. We started making calls, hoping someone could help.

None of us knew that the best part of this story was yet to come....

The summer we turn naturalists!

For years, our Summer Camp has helped children learn to respect, love and protect nature through real experiences!

Kids ages 6–12 will get fully hands-on with nature classes including but not limited to:
🦙Animal Caretaker
🌱Junior Farmer
💐Green Chef and Arts in Nature
🌸 Yoga and Music Class

Do you still remember the person who held your hands when you were learning to walk? 🥹🐴💚

This is what Bucky’s recovery journey looks like.

After returning home from the hospital, our volunteers have been there with him every single day — guiding his steps 👣, steadying him when he wobbles, and picking him up when he falls 🤍

Mama Mayflower never leaves his side either 🐴🌿

We’ve also swapped the straw for softer pine shavings and do a full clean every day ✨ so Bucky has the best chance to heal properly and grow stronger each day 🌱

One step at a time. He is not doing it alone 💚

We have a feeling it’s going to be worth it 🥹✨
