What does a typical day at the farm look like, you ask?
A lot of our time goes into organic farming and running educational programs, but caring for our animals is a huge and non-negotiable part of our day.
Let us introduce you to Chico, our 16 y/o gentleman (unc as kids would say these days)
Just like us, getting older might come with a few health hiccups. Chico has developed a spot in his eye, and despite vet visits and trying different meds, it ended up evolving into a stubborn eye ulcer that’s not getting better.
Are we frustrated? Maybe. But these situations bring us right back to why we are called Little Parrot Farm.
Our name comes from a story about a brave little parrot who tried to put out a raging forest fire by carrying tiny drops of water on her wings.
It sounds like a hopeless task, but she never wavered. Her pure compassion eventually saved the forest.
A lot of times, it feels like we’re only carrying tiny drops of influence and not changing much. But that’s where we find our bliss and wisdom.
We try to take every small step to care for all life and do the work anyway.
Back to our typical day…Chico’s current routine means we’re applying 3 different eye medications 4 times a day.
And this is how we will continue every day: never wavering, carrying small drops of compassion, and caring for our animals…
