CWA Local 4319 President Dan Ludwig recently spoke with Dr. Amy Acton, candidate for Governor of Ohio, at a local AFL-CIO event in Toledo. They talked about protecting good union jobs, strengthening worker rights, and the issues that matter most to our members. When labor has a seat at the table, working people have a voice in the policies that impact and shape their lives.

Ohio needs real advocates for workers right now. Times are hard. Costs keep climbing, jobs feel less secure, and too many families are one emergency away from falling behind. In moments like this, working people need leaders who understand what’s at stake and who are willing to fight when it actually matters.

That’s why the CWA District 4 People’s Champion Award goes to Representative Marcy Kaptur of Ohio’s 9th Congressional District. For decades she’s been a steady and trusted voice for working people, showing up for CWA members and communities across Ohio. She’s fought for policies that protect jobs, strengthen workers’ rights, and put the needs of everyday people ahead of corporate interests. That kind of consistency and commitment isn’t common, and it deserves to be recognized. Thank you for being a reliable ally to workers across Ohio.

Thank you also to Dan Ludwig, President of CWA Local 4319, Kathy Sullivan, Vice President of Local 4319, and Chad Merrick, Secretary Treasurer of Local 4319, for presenting the award and helping make this moment possible.
