Another Opening Even in the books, and it was one fabulous night!
Such a joy to have Jill Kargman with us sharing stories about her life, her work, her mah jong obsession and more that were both hilarious and thought-provoking. And, shoutout to Andrea Lavinthal for coming home and asking the questions that made us smile and think at the same time. Plus, we heard how the work we do impacts kids’ lives with a first-hand account from an educator who is part of our Kids Essentials Closet program.

Thank you to the more than 30 Tovah members and friends came together today or our Mitzvah-in-a-Minute to learn about human trafficking, then assemble bags of much-needed supplies including bedding, personal care items and clothing for Covenant House New Jersey. Tovah advocates for the rights of human trafficking survivors and works to prevent exploitation. Covenant House New Jersey provides assistance, housing and wraparound services to youth ages 18-21 experiencing homelessness and to survivors of human trafficking. Thank you to our friends Temple Emanu-El Westfield, NJ for all their support!

Thank you to Mayor Klein and the Livingston Town Council for the opportunity to talk about the Tovah Center for Women at the Sept. 28 meeting! CFW Director Patty Kremen shared the wide range of services - everything from job skills workshops, resume review and interview practice to boosting your self-esteem and dealing with ageism in the workplace - the Center offers clients (at low- or no-cost to them).

Tovah is our new name (formerly NCJW/Essex)... and the Center for Women has been helping women find new employment for years and will continue to do so! Find out more at www.tovah.org.

Power Up the Vote ☑️🗳️ in action!

Election season has begun and Tovah is ready to Power Up the Vote. Thank you to everyone who came out on Tuesday (which happened to be National Voter Registration Day!) to learn more about ranked choice voting and to write letters to newly registered voters encouraging them to go to cast their ballots. Protecting voting rights has been central to our advocacy work for years, and Power Up the Vote is just one way we engage and educate voters on how to make our elections work better. Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of democracy and provide the foundation for all we do to advance change for women, children and families.
