11/03/2026

Today, Rose Hill crews responded to two motor vehicle accidents. The first occurred this morning and involved a vehicle versus a light pole. Rescue 6 and Engine 2 checked for injuries and provided traffic control.

The second occurred around lunchtime and involved an 18-wheeler and a passenger vehicle. Rescue 6 and Engine 2 arrived to find major damage and assisted with removing patients from the vehicle and transferring them to EMS. Teachey Fire Department also assisted on this call.

Great work by all involved!

Over the past couple of weeks, our members have been busy earning certifications and putting their knowledge to good use!

Capt. Will Wilson participated in a mock water rescue deployment with North Carolina Task Force 11. Firefighter Talyn Parker attended the North Carolina Extrication School, and Firefighter Jase Blanchard earned his Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) certificate.

We are always striving to get better and are thankful for these members’ dedication to learning. The knowledge and skills they bring back to their career departments and Rose Hill help us better serve our communities.

Earlier this afternoon at 4:23 p.m., Rose Hill and Magnolia were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with rollover. Rose Hill Engine 2 and Rescue 6 arrived to find a single vehicle on its side and on fire. Engine 2 had fire attack, Rescue 6 assisted, and Magnolia provided traffic control.

Fortunately, all patients were already out of the vehicle. Great work by everyone involved!

The Rose Hill Fire Department extends our deepest condolences to the Durham Fire Department following the loss of one of their firefighters.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the firefighter’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this difficult time. We are also praying for the injured firefighters and their families as they recover.

Please join us in praying for comfort, strength, and healing for everyone affected.

Rose Hill Engine 2 responding to an entrapment yesterday.

At 7:00 a.m. this morning, we were dispatched to an MVC on the I-40 off ramp. While units were responding, we were dispatched to a second MVC with rollover on Highway 117. Engine 2 diverted to the rollover while Rescue 6 continued to the initial call.

Rescue 6 arrived to find one person entrapped and began extrication, with Teachey Fire added to assist. After clearing the rollover, Engine 2 responded to the initial wreck to assist crews. Great work by everyone involved.

This morning at 10:20 a.m., we were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Ridge Street. Engine 2 arrived to find a working fire in a passenger vehicle and began fire attack. The fire was quickly extinguished. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Rose Hill and the surrounding areas.

Join us in congratulating Talyn Parker (far left) on being hired by the Smithfield Fire Department!

Talyn started his fire service journey at Rose Hill as a junior firefighter and has grown into an outstanding firefighter who is always willing to learn. He will start on shift with Smithfield this week.

Talyn also joins the growing list of career firefighters who got their start at Rose Hill Fire Department. We wish him the very best in this next chapter. Congratulations, Talyn!

This afternoon at 5:03 PM, Rose Hill Fire Department was dispatched to Wallace for a reported structure fire. Wallace units arrived to find a working fire in a single story apartment building and began fire attack. Rose Hill Engine 2 and Truck 3 arrived shortly after and assisted with fireground operations.

Great work by all agencies involved. We are thankful for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Rose Hill and our surrounding communities.
