Good morning! Today is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be so, so, so grateful! Thank you Lord for the rain...our organic horse pasture thanks you for the rain! The flowers and produce thank you for the rain! Us having somewhat of a down day, thanks you for the rain!
Mark and I absolutely love watching our birds every night after a long day of work! We figured a hard-working gal/guy can be determined by the number of work gloves they go through...hahahaha. We've gone through tons! Our Grateful Garden is starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel as all of the boxes are in and several have tomatoes, melons, tons of nasturtiums and marigolds, blueberries, and grapes going! Lots more to plant but today looks like a down day with the incredible, but much needed, rain! Rose bushes, butterfly bushes, peonies, are sitting on the outer edge waiting to be planted along with 125,000 wildflower seeds. 4000 zinnia seeds planted out front alongside the waterfall to keep bringing those pollinators in from every aspect of the property. Peaches and cream corn and sunflowers along the dry lot pasture just far enough away where the horses can't nibble on them. Medicinal herb boxes, peppers and many, many other vegetables waiting after tomorrow when the moon will be waxing. If you don't plant by the moon phases, you're missing out. It's an old farmer's and native American trick that uses the energy of the earth to help your plants succeed. All the rescues are doing great and they are going to love their organic produce later this summer. Pictures coming soon. We truly have been non-stop, but treasure our evenings sitting out on the front porch and watching the tons of different birds having a field day on lots of bird feeders. Our Troyer bird houses have purple martins zipping through the air and catching those nasty mosquitos and we thank them for that! Did you know the more bird houses you have, the more it will help you with mosquito, tick, flea and flies? It's natural pest control along with our Mosquito Joe exterminator that uses only botanicals to fumigate the property every three weeks.
Still waiting on Ameren electric with their plan for us to get electric in at the campsites and after many phone call attempts, still no answer. We trust God with His timing on all phases of the growth here at the Sanctuary. It does not look like we will be opening the campsites on Memorial weekend, but what other better weekend than the celebration of the USA on its 250th birthday this summer?! Yea! The flags and banners are starting to come out around here as most know, I love our flag! I love what it represents and will respect and honor them always. I hope you are doing the same in reverence for our lost soldiers and the ones that defend us to this very day.
Have a blessed day my friends, let all those that looks into your eyes, see His. Peace be with you...I love you!
P. S. That's Shep and Dottie still helping us underneath the benches in "Our Grateful Garden" greenhouse. smile.
