Horseshoe Bend Bark Park

We have furnished 2 outdoor ashtrays for visitors to the Bark Park. One is at the pavilion, and the second is along the fence. But... people continue to flick their cigarette butts on the ground. Our volunteers make it a point of picking them up every day. We have actually found several dogs eating them. Dogs do more than smell butts. They also eat them.

FROM THE AKC...

"If a dog eats cigarette butts, it can lead to ni****ne poisoning, which is very dangerous and can cause symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, rapid heartbeat, and even seizures. Immediate veterinary attention is crucial to prevent serious health issues or death."

If you are smoking in the Bark Park, please dispose of your cigarette butts in the large beige outdoor ashtrays provided. If you cannot be considerate to the other owners and dogs, please stay out of the Park.

On Tuesday, April 28, Mid-Missouri Pest Control will be spraying the Bark Park. A few dogs were recently found with ticks, and we want to get that taken care of right away. Monthly sprayings are planned to keep this under control.

This is how the Park looks today...Warm, sunny and lots of shade!! Supposed to rain tomorrow, so come on over now for a nice afternoon with your pup.

Please read and share with your friends.

1. No food of any kind is allowed in the Bark Park. (People food or dog food). If you carry dog snacks, please do not leave any in the storage box. If you do, they will be taken out and donated to a shelter. Food is a good way to start a dog fight.
2. No aggesssive or or "mean" dogs to be brought into the park. If you are not sure your dog qualifies, then please muzzle them before entering. If you have an encounter with an agressive dog, ask the owner to leave the park. If you are not comfortable with that, please contact us with information about the owner and dog, and we will contact them.
3. Please return the tennis balls and dog toys to the storage box after use. We recently found over 2 dozen balls at the park in different spots that were left behind. Please be considerate to all the other vistors and return them to the storage box where they belong. That hill can be tough on some people to retrieve these toys. It is a courtesy to other people that use the park.
3. If you see tennis balls outside the park fence, please pick them up and put them away.
4. Please do not move the picnic tables by dragging them, as it weakens the supports. Pick them up fully off the ground.
5. Do not post anything on the bulletin board. It is for Bark Park info only. If you have something that may be of interest, please contact us through our page to get approval. page is “Horseshoe Bend Bark Park”.
6. And last, but not least, please pick up after your pups. We know you cannot watch them every minute. With the increased number of visitors we have, there are more and more piles to avoid.
