Father,

Thank You for this morning.

Before the practices, games, workouts, classrooms, and everything waiting on us this week, I pray for every coach and athlete across Polk County.

Draw them into Your house today.

Give them a desire to worship You—not because somebody made them go, not because it’s what they’re supposed to do, but because they genuinely want to be in Your presence.

Let today be more than checking church off the list.

Quiet our hearts. Get our attention. Speak through Your Word. Let us worship with our whole being. And prepare us for what You’re sending us into this week.

Because tomorrow, the mission field is waiting.

The locker room is a mission field.
The weight room is a mission field.
The classroom is a mission field.
The practice field, court, dugout, sidelines, and stands are mission fields.

There are people we will stand beside this week who need Jesus.

So fill us today, Lord, and send us tomorrow.

Give coaches eyes to see beyond the athlete and recognize the young person underneath the uniform. Give athletes courage to live differently, love their teammates, encourage the hurting, include the overlooked, and speak the name of Jesus when You open the door.

Don’t let us separate Sunday from the rest of our week.

What You do in us in the house of worship, let it flow through us into our schools.

We aren’t just going to practice.
We aren’t just going to class.
We aren’t just going to compete.

We’re being sent.

Fill us with Your Spirit. Keep our eyes on Jesus. And use coaches and athletes all across Polk County to Take the Land for Your Kingdom.

One God. One County. One Mission.

Father,

Thank You for another day and another opportunity to use what You’ve given us for Your glory.

I pray for every coach and athlete across Polk County today. Your Word tells us to work willingly at whatever we do because ultimately, we’re doing it for You.

Help us live like we believe that.

When practice is hard, help us give our best. When we’re tired, help us keep going. When nobody is watching, help us work just as hard as when the stands are full.

And Lord, protect us from living for people’s approval.

We don’t need the applause. We don’t need everybody to notice. We don’t need our name to be the one everybody is talking about.

We just want to be faithful with what You’ve put in our hands.

Whether we’re starting or sitting the bench, winning or losing, coaching or competing, let our attitude say, “Jesus, this is for You.”

And remind us that this goes way beyond sports.

In the classroom. At home. At work. In our relationships. In the little responsibilities nobody celebrates.

Whatever we do, let us do it for You.

As we Take the Land, raise up coaches and athletes who work hard, serve faithfully, stay humble, and understand that our greatest reward isn’t a trophy.

It’s knowing we honored Jesus with what He gave us.

Father,

Thank You for Jesus and for the example He gave us of what it really looks like to love people.

I pray for every coach and athlete across Polk County today. Make us one.

There are so many things that can divide us—different schools, different teams, different personalities, competition, pride, jealousy, even our own selfishness. But when we belong to Jesus, we belong to something bigger than ourselves.

Help us remember that.

Teach us to encourage instead of criticize. To celebrate somebody else instead of needing the attention ourselves. To notice the person who feels left out. To care about what somebody else is carrying instead of always thinking about ourselves.

Lord, kill the pride in us that always wants to be first.

Make us humble.

On our teams, help us care more about we than me. Give coaches and athletes one heart and one purpose—not just to win games, but to represent Jesus in the way we compete, lead, serve, and love one another.

And when our attitudes start looking more like the world than Jesus, convict us.

Your Word says we should have the same attitude Christ Jesus had.

That’s what we want.

Not more attention.
Not more recognition.
More Jesus.

As we Take the Land, make us people who love deeply, serve humbly, work together, and put others before ourselves.

One mind. One purpose. All for Jesus.

Father,

Thank You for Jesus.

Thank You that He didn’t just tell us how to live—He showed us.

The King of kings got down on His knees and washed feet. He served people who should have been serving Him. And then He looked at His disciples and basically said, “Now you go do the same.”

Lord, help us do that.

I pray for every coach and athlete across Polk County. Take away the attitude that says, “What can I get?” and replace it with, “How can I serve?”

Help us notice the teammate who needs encouragement. Pick up what somebody else left behind. Help without needing credit. Celebrate somebody else’s success. Respect our coaches, officials, teachers, parents, teammates, and opponents.

And when nobody notices what we’re doing, remind us that You do.

Jesus, keep us from chasing titles, attention, recognition, and applause. If You were willing to wash feet, there shouldn’t be anything beneath us.

As we Take the Land, don’t let us think leadership means being out front.

Sometimes leadership looks like getting low.

Sometimes it looks like carrying somebody else’s burden.

Sometimes it looks like doing the job nobody else wants to do.

Make us servants, Jesus.

Let the way we serve make people wonder what is different about us—and let the answer always be You.

Serve others. Love people. Follow Jesus.

Father,

Thank You for another day and another opportunity to represent Jesus in the way we live, compete, and treat people.

I pray for every coach and athlete across Polk County today. Make us people of integrity.

Help us tell the truth even when the truth costs us something. When nobody would know, help us choose what’s right anyway. When we make a mistake, give us the courage to own it instead of making excuses or blaming somebody else.

Lord, don’t let winning become more important than our character.

On the court, help us play honestly. Help us respect our teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials. And when emotions get high, remind us that how we respond says something about Who we belong to.

Your Word says honesty guides good people. So guide us, Jesus.

Keep dishonesty, deception, and compromise out of our hearts. Make us the same person in the locker room that we are at FCA. The same person when the crowd is watching that we are when nobody is around.

As we Take the Land, let people see Jesus in more than our words.

Let them see Him in our character.

Make us honest.
Make us trustworthy.
Make us people who do what’s right.

Father,

Thank You for another day and another opportunity to represent You.

I pray for every coach and athlete across Polk County today. Help us watch our words.

It’s easy to say something in the heat of competition. It’s easy to join in when everybody else is talking about someone. It’s easy to complain, gossip, tear somebody down, or say something we wish we could take back.

Jesus, make us different.

Before something comes out of our mouths, help us ask, “Is this going to build somebody up or tear them down?”

Let our words bring life.

Help coaches speak encouragement and truth over their athletes. Help teammates build each other up instead of cutting each other down. Help us speak with respect to opponents, officials, teachers, parents, and one another—even when we’re frustrated.

And when we mess up, give us the humility to own it and apologize.

Lord, I don’t want us to just wear FCA shirts, attend FCA meetings, or post Bible verses. I want people to hear Jesus in the way we talk.

Take control of our mouths because You have control of our hearts.

As we Take the Land, let our words be one of the clearest ways people recognize that we belong to You.

Speak life. Build people up. Give grace.

Father,

Thank You for Your protection over our coaches, athletes, students, officials, families, and communities throughout rivalry week.

We asked You to keep everyone safe, and today we stop and thank You for answering that prayer. Through all the practices, competition, excitement, and emotion of this week, Your hand has been on us.

And Jesus, thank You specifically for last night.

Thank You for a football game that was hard fought and well played. Thank You that when emotions could have taken over, level heads were present. Thank You for coaches who led, players who competed, officials who served, and people who helped keep the rivalry where it belongs.

There was passion. There was intensity. There was pride in our schools.

But at the end of the night, it was still a game.

Help us remember that a healthy rivalry can bring out the best in one another without making enemies of one another. We can compete hard and still show respect. We can want to win and still honor the other side.

Cedartown and Rockmart may wear different colors and stand on different sidelines, but there is something far greater than football that unites us.

Jesus, keep our eyes on You.

As Hebrews 12 reminds us, help us lay aside anything that weighs us down, run with endurance, and keep looking to You—the founder and perfecter of our faith.

Thank You for rivalry week.
Thank You for competition.
Thank You for protection.
Thank You for level heads.
And most of all, thank You for Jesus.

May everything we do ultimately point people to Him.

Different sidelines. One community. One mission.

One God. One County. One Mission.
