Meet Lucy!!
This cutie came to us with her sister a while back. Like many siblings, they had their fair share of interesting dynamics, so we decided they would do best being adopted separately. Lucy's sister has found her home... but Lucy is still waiting for hers.
Today was a first for me. If you've been to the rescue, you know we have a really big field where the dogs love to run. Normally, they take off as soon as the gate shuts. But today, Lucy turned around and looked at me with the saddest, tired eyes. I leaned down and gave her the biggest hug, and she immediately flopped onto the ground, rolled onto her back, and stayed there for a full 30 minutes. The grass was soaking wet, but she didn't care.
Lucy isn't completely comfortable at the rescue yet, so this felt like a big win today. It was one of those little moments that reminds us how much these dogs have to offer when they feel safe.
We would really love to find Lucy a family where someone works from home. We think that would give her the best opportunity to settle in and succeed. As for a furry sibling, she may or may not be open to one. Only a proper introduction will tell us!
