WIC supports practicing healthy habits with toddlers, starting in the kitchen! 👩‍🍳 Getting little ones involved in cooking food doesn’t have to be daunting and can help their development.
Cooking with toddlers can:
🥙 Teach them about nutrition and plant the seed for balanced eating habits
đź‘‹ Strengthen their fine motor skills and boost their attention span
🥦 Help expand their taste buds by trying fruits and veggies as you cook with them

Vitamin A is famous for its role in keeping our vision sharp, but it’s also a superstar for overall growth, embryo development, and a strong immune system.
The good news is that Vitamin A-rich foods are often at their peak during the colder months! Think of bright orange and dark leafy greens: carrots, sweet potatoes, winter squash, spinach, and collard greens.
Your WIC benefits make it easier to bring these healthy, colorful foods to your family's table. Reach out to WIC for more information and nutrition tips for your family. Find a clinic near you: https://bit.ly/4qa2YBF

Let us know if you all hear of any businesses offering meals in any of our counties! I'm trying to keep a good list here to share with our WIC families!!

*UPDATE Due to Government Reopening*
With the federal government now reopened, some of the offers provided by local businesses are being discontinued. This remains an ever-changing situation, and we will share additional updates as they become available.

We are deeply inspired by the generosity of local Wayne County businesses - 5 Arch Brewing Company, Mancino's Richmond, The Firehouse BBQ and Blues, Sweet Blessings, Thai Thara Restaurant, IHOP Richmond, Block Head Records, Lulu's Tacos, Yamato Steakhouse&Sushi Richmond IN, Ullery's Homemade Ice-Cream who are offering free community meals to SNAP recipients in light of the upcoming delay to SNAP funding in November.

In addition, Suzie’s Pizza, Carlo's Cuisine Family Restuarant and Sweet Blessings are offering "Pay It Forward" boards with pre-paid meals by community members. If you're able, consider stopping by these locations to pay for a meal for someone in our community.

Let’s rally behind these incredible establishments!! If you’re able, please consider dining with these restaurants or ordering takeout to show your support and help their incredible generosity.

We've created an easy-to-access resource page listing other food pantries and meal sites: https://visitrichmond.org/visitors/welcome/local-resident-resources/

Our Community Needs Us — and We Need You!

With a possible government shutdown approaching, many families across Indiana may soon lose access to SNAP benefits. For parents already struggling to afford essentials, this could mean choosing between food and diapers.

We’re preparing to increase diaper distributions to our community partners so that families don’t go without — but we can’t do it alone.
We are asking our community to help us raise $5,000 to make sure we are ready to meet the need. Every donation, no matter the size, helps keep babies clean, healthy, and safe.

Fayette Co and Wayne Co families, please call us if you are unable to attend your WIC appointments! We are scheduling out further than we would like and then when families don't show up, we are stressed even further to reschedule. Please just give us as much advance notice as you can so we can maximize the time of our staff to help as many of you as we possibly can.

When your little one is feeling under the weather, good nutrition can help them feel better.
Offer small, frequent meals that are easy on the stomach, like bananas, applesauce or rice. Staying hydrated is just as important—water, clear broths and electrolyte drinks can help. 💙
