Now that the fluff from thousands of wonderfully coiffured dogs has been transformed into what must be the world’s most glamorous collection of dust bunnies, the ribbons are proudly on display, and our feet have finally forgiven us, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful opportunities that unfolded at the Houston World Series of Dog Shows, July 15–19, 2026. 🐾
For the third consecutive year, Faithful Paws was honored to have a booth at this incredible event—and what a five days it was!
The success of our booth was made possible, in large part, by the generous support of KBR, whose donation enabled our participation. We are tremendously grateful for their investment in Faithful Paws and the work our therapy teams do throughout the Houston community.
The greatest part of the experience was the people. ❤️
We welcomed visits from facility partners, prospective members, friends, supporters, and people simply curious about pet therapy. We shared stories, answered questions, made new connections—and, of course, gave out plenty of unconditional love.
And then there were the dogs.
Our therapy dogs deserve a standing ovation. They navigated five days of noise, crowds, unfamiliar sights, excited people, and thousands of dogs while keeping their wits about them and doing what they do best. They also had to navigate tempting shops filled with delicious morsels, toys, and irresistible treasures—all while occasionally being reminded of that very important therapy-dog command: “Leave it!”
Of course, a few particularly lucky dogs went home with bags of treats, toys and beautiful designer accessories, happily purchased by their handlers as a well-deserved thank-you for a job very well done. After all, five days of good manners, self-control and unconditional love deserve a little retail therapy! 🐾
There were lots of pets. Lots of smiles. Lots of love. And, after five very busy days? We all slept really well each night!
A huge thank you to the generous businesses and individuals who donated raffle prizes, and to everyone who purchased tickets and supported Faithful Paws. Your generosity helps us continue our mission. And if you didn't hear your name called this year, don't despair... There’s always next year!
And we simply cannot say enough about our dedicated Faithful Paws members who made the booth happen from beginning to end. Some arrived to help set up, many gave their time throughout all five days, and others stayed to help break everything down when the last visitor had gone home. You gave your time, energy, and enthusiasm to represent Faithful Paws, welcome visitors, and share the love. You are the people behind the paws, and we couldn't have done it without you. ❤️🐾
We hope the Houston World Series of Dog Shows will build on the successes of this year’s event and embrace the opportunities ahead to make it an even bigger and better, Texas-sized celebration—worthy of the great State of Texas and all the tail-waggin’, fly-ballin’, dock-divin’, do-si-doing, weave-weavin’, bluebonnet-beautiful and dog-gone-lovin’ dogs who call Texas home—or come from afar! 🤠🐾
And to all those who came from afar, we hope you enjoyed some good ol’ Texas BBQ while you were here—but, for heaven’s sake, please tell us you kept the brisket off those beautiful white coats! 🐾
And here’s to seeing this wonderful Houston tradition thrive for many years to come.
