UNICO DE: Kentucky Derby – Successo!
We Italians love to get together, and when the reason is “helping others” the event becomes more of a celebration. Good friends, good food but most of all a good cause whether it be a birthday, an anniversary, a baptism…or a sense of community, the emphasis is on “good and “unity”.
The Kentucky Derby, May 2nd, again provided the opportunity (after all the “U” in UNICO stands for “U”nity and the “O” for “O”pportunity), to extend our goal of charitable giving , with the proceeds donated to Cancer Research and the Saint Jude Children’s Hospital. Held at Nicola Pizza in Lewes DE, the Caggiano Family, as always, supported this event providing an excellent venue and service.
Children in the Rehoboth Area were not forgotten during the Easter Season. Joan Boraski, chairperson of the chapter “Outreach Committee”, assisted by Dr. and Mrs. Dennis Kondash and Mrs. Patty Derrick, provided baskets (40 in all) filled with toys and useful clothing items for those infant to 12 yrs, and gift cards and candy for 13 to 18 year olds.
Our final event for the 2025-2026 calendar year will be the annual BOCCE TOURNAMENT, to be held at Mulligan’s Point, Georgetown DE on June 6th (rain date June 7). Chairpersons Marina Hayden and Brian Williams are planning an exciting event for members and friends; all are welcome. Proceeds for this event will support the Brian Piccolo Scholarship 2027.
