Reedsport Main Street Program

Reedsport Main Street Program We are a comprehensive program which engages volunteers to make our community livable and sustainable.

We focus on strengthening our economy, improving the aesthetics of our city, preserving and sharing our history, and promoting recreational activities. The Reedsport Main Street Program (RMSP) was originally established on April 7, 2009. It is a locally driven process following the national Main Street Approach, a practical and comprehensive model capitalizing on a community’s unique assets. Our g

oal is to build a high quality, livable, and sustainable community that will grow our economy while maintaining a strong sense of place. Our program focuses on the downtown, midtown, and uptown districts of Reedsport, our town on the south-central Oregon coast. We rely wholly on community involvement and participation. This is an opportunity for our community members to work together, develop a spirit of innovation and enterprise, and help shape the Reedsport of the future. Our volunteers form three committees that operate under the program and act as the foundation of the Reedsport Main Street Program. Each committee has its own goals and objectives in different areas of Reedsport’s revitalization efforts.

✨RETURNING VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: Mermaid and Moonbeam✨

We’re excited to welcome Mermaid and Moonbeam back to the Reedsport First Friday Vendor Market! Sophia and her family have been part of our markets for the past three years, bringing a little sparkle and a whole lot of heart to each event. ✨

Sophia is the creative mastermind behind the beautiful necklaces and adorable dog collars—but she’ll be the first to tell you that her 14-year-old pup, Shashi, is the inspiration behind it all. 🐾

“I originally made Shashi a necklace a few years ago and then decided that all puppies needed a little bling. Since no one else was making them, I knew we needed to,” Sophia shared.

And there’s a true family effort behind Mermaid and Moonbeam! Sophia’s husband, Bob, creates the unique display cases for her creations using vintage suitcases, giving their booth an extra touch of charm and character.

Shashi has been by Sophia and Bob’s side her entire life, and she’ll be celebrating her 14th birthday on September 12th! Her name, Shashi, means “moonbeam” in Hindi—and that special meaning helped inspire the name of their business.

After losing their company during the pandemic, Sophia, Bob, and Shashi made their way from Albuquerque to the Oregon Coast, where they began a new chapter together.

Sophia considers herself a mermaid, Shashi is their moonbeam, and just like that… Mermaid and Moonbeam was born. 🧜‍♀️🌙

✨NEW VENDOR SPOTLIGHT ✨

We’re excited to welcome ZAMBALHA to the Reedsport First Friday Vendor Market on September 4th! They’re traveling down from Portland to join us and bring their unique collection of apparel and jewelry to our market.

ZAMBALHA has been traveling throughout Oregon, attending festivals and markets and sharing their finds with communities across the state.

After 18 years of operating a shop at the Portland Saturday Market, they closed their storefront in 2020 during the pandemic and have continued their journey as a traveling vendor.

They offer apparel including patch pants, jackets, overalls, scarves, bags and backpacks, shorts, hats, and skirts. Most of their clothes are one-size-fit-most. Items, such as pants, are available in a variety of sizes.

Make sure to check out their silver and metal jewelry, power bracelets, singing bowls, and tapestries.

They’re excited to visit Reedsport, and we’re excited to have them! Be sure to stop by and say hello!!!
